Can anyone tell me why NB 75 in McKinney is going to be closed one night later this week?  Just curious... there have been road work signs up for a while but the only work I've observed is grass-cutting on the median.

I would like to thank the burgundy Grand Am who cut us off this morning.  While traveling in the SB HOV lane on 75 this morning, my husband had to slam on his brakes because you decided that you needed to cut over from the left lane of traffic.  Nevermind that it wasn't an actual entrance, but rather a few missing poles.  Nevermind that it was only you, the driver, in your car pulling into the HOV lane.  Nevermind that there was a car in the HOV lane traveling at 60*ehem* miles per hour nearly right next to you.  Wherever you were going was obviously far more important than the safety of anyone else on the road.  You now owe me lunch since slamming on the brakes caused my soup to tip and leak out of the container and all over the floorboard in the back seat.  Oh, and my pregnant belly now hurts from the seatbelt locking and my body being thrown forward.  Not the smartest idea to irritate a pregnant lady.

I hope that you got to wherever you were going on time - and that your phone conversation wasn't interrupted by our car horn honking at you.

Would someone please explain to me why the HOV lane is closed on 75 SB from Allen to Plano?  Traffic is horrible through Allen in the morning because of entrances and exits being closed and it just doesn't make any sense to me to have the HOV blocked off as well.  It's my understanding that they are going to be moving the entrance because of the new Bethany entrance... why do they need to shut it down now?  I have yet to see anyone work on the HOV lane since the closure.  I also understand that they have a section around the Parker bridge blocked off by concrete barriers so that they can work there, but I haven't seen any work there, either.  I guess my question is, why is this lane closed now if no one is working on it?

When handing out pink slips this week, DISD is giving teachers 3 days to decide whether they want to take the RIF with no objections (and get their paycheck and benefits through Jan 16) or file a formal complaint (and not get the paycheck or benefits).

What they are not making public is that during those 3 days, you are not paid your normal salary, nor are you eligible for benefits.  You are considered a "substitute" until you sign your paperwork.

Is it just me, or is this more BS from DISD?

Teachers in DISD are scheduled to find out who keeps their jobs and who is going.  Who stays in their schools and who is being transferred.  As horrible as this is on us, (teachers) I would like to ask that everyone keep the students in your thoughts today.  They are the ones who will be losing their mentors and, in some cases, friends.

To all of the support staff in DISD who will be getting pink slips today, I wish you the best of luck.  As a DISD teacher I am in fear for my job, but in my opinion, you all are getting the short end of this whole deal.  It sickens me.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.
