Cesar Chavez was a noble and worthy American citizen who worked hard for the rights of workers of the Latino community.

America teaches the story of Cesar Chavez and his nonviolent movement that empowered many Latinos in America.

Dallas was one of the many cities Cesar Chavez visited to promote his cause, visiting as recently as 1991 two years before his death.

14 states and Washington, D.C. have already named parks, libraries, roads and schools after the U.S. born Mexican-American civil rights icon, including Houston, El Paso and Austin which have honored Cesar Chávez with a street.

The city of Dallas has a history of honoring civil rights icons by renaming major roads in downtown Dallas, but still has yet to honor a Latino leader.

The city of Dallas has a Latino population of 43 percent and deserve to have their leaders recognized.

The city of Dallas conducted a survey that found César Chávez to be the top choice to rename Industrial Blvd.

The citizens of Dallas took part in this survey with full faith that their choices would be honored.

Ross Avenue has been offered as a reasonable and highly meaningful road way to be renamed in honor of Cesar Chavez.

Ross Ave. was the starting point of the historic 2006 Mega Marcha in Dallas.

Ross Ave. is home to the Cathedral of Guadalupe in Downtown Dallas, which is one of the most attended churches in the city.

The headquarters of the Dallas Independent School District is located along Ross Ave. which represents a student body that is over 65% Hispanic and minority.

A historical marker for the Ross brothers is being recommended for the entrance to the West End.

Just pave an alley somewhere and name it after him...

Fact: Chavez thought illegals corrupted the very labor group he led, and the very wage rights he worked so hard to get for AMERICAN-born farm workers. When illegal influx rose in the 1960's, wages dropped.

Fact: his brother led border-patrol teams (like today's Minutemen) and sometimes beat up illegal border-crossers.

If his image hadn't been twisted by LULAC to be all about la Raza and pro-illeglas instead of about the workers for whom he really fought, maybe more Americans would be down with the idea of actually naming anything after him.

I got it! Let's name a day-laborer site after him! two birds (workers and illegals) with one stone.

Wah.

Yeah-people "just like" me: AMERICAN.

Go read about Cuban history and then get back with me on how fantastic this is. They are censored. They have cr*p medical care. Their entire government's corruption makes Northern Mexico look like a kids' park. The poverty level there has been above 80% for decades. They come here to become American and are willing to leave everything to be here. They lose all contact with their families when they leave. Their belongings go to the government when they leave.

So please don't feed me any more junk about how bad Mexicans have it here. Run for office instead and make changes that way. hell, VOTE instead. Then again, how many illegal immigrants get to vote? My understanding is that in DFW, the number of illegals is greater than the number of legal immigrants and Mexican-born US Citizens.

You choose to ignore the reality of the entirety of his speeches, while you pick and choose what you want to help out the Cause.

No wonder none of my Mexican-American friends like LULAC...oh yeah. Because my friends have lives with dual cultures, not one.

You're pretty handy with the run-on sentences, btw.

Question for you Mexican

I personally do not have a problem with a name change BUT
at what point does that stop?

first, there are parks streets etc name change, innocent at a level to be sure.

But not only are there so many "activists" that show a ( not necessarily violent) resorting to physical intimidation, that its hard to get support for what seems innocent, a street name change. forget the tax$$ to spent on it.

Where do the requests/demands end STATE NAME CHANGE? COUNTRY NAME CHANGE.

YOU CANT SAY THAT WONT HAPPEN BECAUSE 20 YEARS AGO ONE SOULD HAVE SAID THAT PARKS /STREETS ETC WOULDNT HAVE NAME CHANGES.

entienda??
