Rich on the Road

I offer this without comment, except to say I think Megan Henderson is a terrific morning news anchor and a tremendous asset to Fox 4 and I would hate to see her go.  I don't know anything more than what I read.  It comes from mediabistro.com and its TVNewser blog.

Henderson_5.12.jpgTVNewser has learned Fox & Friends fill-in Megan Henderson has passed the Roger test, as in she'll be returning to New York to meet with FNC chairman Roger Ailes.

Henderson, who anchors mornings at Fox O&O KDFW in Dallas/Ft. Worth, filled in on Fox & Friends Weekend in early April. An insider tells us, "Roger is very impressed with her skills as a morning anchor."

A source tells TVNewser Henderson has an out in her KDFW contract this summer and executives want to keep her in the Fox family. The insider also tells us Henderson's appearances "would not be limited to weekends."

I don't begrudge Megan the chance to move onto bigger and better things......I always knew that she had that "it" factor when it comes to news anchors.....not just talking looks either...(although she pretty much has that dept. covered too).....

She just has that extra special something....you can't put your finger on what it is.....but you "know" when it's there....and when it isn't....

I see big things for her....wherever she chooses to be.....I will miss her....as we all will.....

best of luck to you Megan....you have the potential to take it all the way....never doubted that for a second....

I look forward to seeing you "make it"....

sincerely.....Ted-mania

UncleBarky.com is reporting that Megan knows nothing of this. According to Ed Bark Megan has been emailing him and says:
"Honestly, I don't know what's going on either!" Henderson said in a second email. "This is the first I've heard of any of this."
Stay tuned.

Rich, why when an anchor is going to leave they wait until their very last day to tell the viewers?

Hope everything works the way Megan wants it to (I'm guessing moving to the Big Apple)...

She'll do fine no matter where she is, I'm sure, though having her here is better. :)

I think, generally, managers would prefer that anchors deliver the news, without any comment about their personal situation. It has become rare that you see any on-air goodbyes at all. Whether that is good or bad, I guess is a matter of debate.

Dallas is the 5th largest market in America and I can truly say, for many of us who work here, New York or the network would not be a step up. Whole different beast with a whole different set of challenges. Depends on where you want to live and how.

IMO it's a bad thing when the anchor leaves without even acknowledging the public that has helped their career. Makes them look like very shallow and thoughtless people

I agree with TM regarding anchor's leaving without saying goodbye. It is an insult to the people who have been watching, giving good feedback, helping in their career, etc.

I would hate to see her leave because she is a good anchor and adds a lot to the Good Day program. I wish her well if she is leaving but just from her personality that I see I think she would be miserable in New York.

I also liked Julia when she was here.

I still miss Julia. She seemed like such a sweetheart

tmom and bella,
Just to be clear on this, I'm sure virtually every anchor would want the opportunity to say goodbye but they are sometimes forbidden by their bosses to do so. Believe me, when that happens I can almost guarantee that it wasn't the anchors choice to say nothing.

RICH ON THE ROAD I am blessed with a truly remarkable job that for decades now has permitted me to see corners of the world, far and near. When I'm not on the road for Fox4 News in Dallas/Fort Worth, I'm often traveling with my wife Catherine -- occasionally on mission trips in Africa or Latin America with our home church (Prince of Peace Lutheran in Carrollton). My contribution to this page began largely as a Travel-blog -- sharing current and many of my past experiences in traveling America and the globe. I'm tryng, as we go along, to wade into a wider range of topics without getting in too much trouble. Richard Ray
