i was on my lunch hour visiting my wife at her work when a woman came by the window pushing an elderly woman in a wheelchair . i noticed the woman pushing was being very rough with the woman so i continued to wach them, she then started to help the woman out of her wheelchair when the elderly woman  suddenly sat back down.she couldnt get up,the woman pushing her then hit the woman closed fist in the arm  and she screamed, i hope you die you lazy b**** then she jerked the woman out of her chair and violenty through her into the back seat i walked outside to try to help the woman rolled her window  down and said YOU SAW HER HELP ME. the angry woman said OH SHES CRAZY DONT LISTEN TO HER i went to the store nextdoor a procuts and asked if they saw that they said they heard argueing the and they told me that the woman was the elderly womans daughter she  had brought her to get a haircut and she told me her name.    so i call the police and tell them about the elderly woman asking for help cause her daughter beats her i gave them her name and liscense plates they told me there was nothing they could do they wouldnt even check on her i believe this elderly woman needs help and is in danger

I would have gotten that officers name and badge number.

I believe they have a job to do when someone reports an elderly being beaten. Even more so if she is asking for help.

They should have atleast checked it out.

Maybe, now, what you need to do, is call the police station and see what they tell you.

I'd be calling back and getting the chief on the phone. Better yet call the local sheriffs department and tell them.

Oh my GOD, Keep calling the police until they do something. Elder abuse is a very serious offense. I'd have made a scene right there and detained her if possible but then again I am a well known eccentric.

I am right there with you Momcat!

The Adult Protective Services need to be notified of this and the events of the Police Department. It will all need to be documented with names, ID numbers, time, place, and witnesses.

I have no problem reporting something like this. Especially when the elderly lady cries out for help...thats all I need to hear!
Try calling for an EMT or Para Medic next time. You'll get a much quicker response!

Tell them you saw white powder in the young womans purse, that will get the Swat team in the house, just hope they break into the correct house.

They're obligated to do what's called a "welfare check". The fact that the elderly lady asked for help was a clear sign that something is not right and should be followed up on. I'd definitely keep trying the number and ask to speak with a supervisor or even a watch commander. Write down all the information they give you, name, what extension you were connected to.
