Something 2 talk about

I changed my photo to the church cross and I want to explain why. I was driving by the church where my parents first pastored for over 25 years. When my parents were there they took time to clean the church, repair anything that went wrong with the church and of course they took care of the people that were members to the best of their ability. When I passed the church and saw the steeple and the cross LEANING I stopped the car and took this photo. It reminded me of what is happening today. SOME and I stress SOME pastors don't care about the church or its people. They are only concerned about themselves. The churches are falling apart, and nobody cares enough to stop and say something about it. Sooner or later if this steeple is not repaired the cross will fall down. This is the same thing that will happen to the hearts of preachers if they are not confronted that they are making mistakes they continue to fall until they end up.... well in jail. If you see this picture happening in your church... stop and say something.

Do you agree or what.... this was just an observation on my part.

Funny, the same thing you are saying about a churches can so easily happen in our marriages. It's so easy to slide into not putting God first and then the other person. I don't know about the churches other than the Hornbuckle deal from the news. We are blessed to go to an excellent church, Fellowship (though, not immune to Satan) that teaches sound biblical truths. I think we fall into the trap that many large churches do, and that is putting our pastor up on a pedastool, and that can probably be dangerous! Good post S2TA

Thanks for responding Grateful, that's something to think about with the marriages.
We are so blessed and I think anyone can fall into a trap if they fail to WATCH and PRAY.
Thanks again, I can't wait to go to church in the morning, I enter into the sanctuary with thanksgiving because I am soooo blessed.

I would love to visit your church someday. Our family goes to the Sat. evening services, but I've had a stomach flu (on the mend now) so the family is still out at church.

AMEN, Sis I was just reading this article about falling pastors and how today's church is so quick to justify sin instead of living the way Christ intended. They say that they are just men and that we shouldn't expect to much from them.

Well if that is the case then that means that we are calling God and his word a lie. I strongly believe that when we are called by God to lead the people, that we are also called to be set apart from the sheep. Set apart by understanding that we can't live like we want to and expect to lead somebody else.
How can the devil lead anyone to salvation, he can't. So many preachers have turned away from speaking the truth because they ain't living worth nothing themselves and they don't have any character. The bible did say that there would be a great fallen away but my Lord never in my life have I seen the church in such a state. We got churches on every corner like 7-eleven but how many of those leaders are preaching the true living word of God.

I also believe that God is raising up some leaders who are not ashamed to speak the truth and who are not ashamed to tell these false teachers who are teaching this false doctrine, what thus says the Lord.

I know that not all churches are bad and not all pastors are living like the devil, but the one's that have no character need to be sat down before they do any more damage.
Judgement will begin in the house of the Lord and I think that it has already started. God says to WATCH and PRAY. There is a reason for the Bible, it is our guide. God is the same yesterday, today and forever, his w

his word does not change to fit our needs.

Everytime God brought judgement, only a few made it. Look at the days of Noah, look at Sodom and Gomorah, and the church is still doing the same thing today, running around with blinders on.

Matt 7/13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

My favorite quotation from the Bible, or at least one of them, came from the Apostle Paul's letter to the Church at Rome.

"I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ," Paul wrote "for it is the power of God unto salvation."

Few preachers and pastors today can make that statement in honesty.

These have been such good comments to read.

The Bible says that there would be a 'falling away'. We've seen that happen... far too many preacher teach a tainted gospel, a watered down Bible (so not to offended) and worship the god of Big Bucks and Full Sanctuaries. But, God resides in the small places. In those who labor quietly, unseen and unnoticed by most, getting out the Word of Truth. We are in a small church, nothing fancy or pretty to look at, but, oh my!, the Word is taught! We don't even have an outward steeple to learn, or fall down, but no one cares. We are feed the Word of Truth and bless to be there.

I agree with you S2TA and TLEE.

We should and do hold our pators to a higher standard. They are in a position of dealing with very vunderable feelings and can easliy take advantage. If they are truly a man of God, then they will hold themselves accountable as well.

To see a church that has not been taken care of, you do wonder of the people inside. Do they not care for the home that the Lord provides for you? Then they certainly should put His house first.

As for me, I am looking for a new church. Bad experiences have left me visiting while searching. I don't want a megachurch, but lake the trust in the church for a small one, if that makes any sense to anyone else out there.

Take to you later CJ.

Actually, the symbolism is dead on. The cross "falling" is the reason the entire world is in the shape that it is in. Sometimes, I envision God sitting on His throne in Heaven with His head in His hands, shaking His head at us.

Adam and Chardoney,
That is a powerful visualization. How crazy is it that we as little people can make our Big God upset.
Chardoney, I am in the same type of small church. That steeple came from the Big church that we left. I love being in a church where GOD is there. That's what makes the difference.
