The Rantings of SpikeRants

by SpikeRants from Watauga

Last Post 90 days Ago

Yay! So now we common people are so stoopid that we can't make our own decisions. When we do, we're told we're wrong and that we have to do the other thing.

It's not about "GAYS ARE GOING TO HELL!!!11!!" for me. It's not about whether it's right or wrong. It's not about "WE NEED THE SAME RIGHTS BUT STILL BE TREATED BETTER THAN YOU!!11!!"

It's about the will of the people.

Okay, yeah, a bunch of people are making blogs on this subject. And I tire of hearing "IT'S AGAINST GOD!!111" Who cares?!? We're not capable of making the decision. Only God is. And it's rude of you to tell people that they're going to hell because they don't believe what you believe. Would you like it if I told you you were going to hell because you thought Star Wars was better than Star Trek? If I said that you wore a red shirt on May 22nd 2010, you'd go to hell? Nah, I don't think you'd appreciate it.

"BUT SPIKERANTS YOUR FORGETTING THAT IT SAYS THIS IN THE BIBLE THAT YOU CAN'T BE GAY!!11!"

Yeah. And it also says the world was created in six days. And there was a creation of man twice. Oh yeah, read Genesis chapters one and two. They are two different creation stories. And that God was angry at the world because humans were marrying gods. And that THE ENTIRE WORLD FLOODED AND ONE MAN AND HIS SMALL FAMILY PUT EVERY SINGLE TYPE OF CREATURE ON EARTH, INCLUDING KOALAS AND KANGAROOS AND BISON AND OTHER TYPES OF CRITTERS THAT WEREN'T EVEN IN THE MIDDLE EAST ON A WOODEN BOAT AND RODE OUT THIS MASSIVE STORM FOR FORTY DAYS WITHOUT THE SNAKES EATING THE RATS AND THE LIONS EATING THE SIAMESE KITTENS.

Little far fetched, I think.

But whatever, I'm blind. I can't see the "truth." But hey, guess what? I think you can't see the truth either. The problem with "truth" is that it's in the eye of the teller. It's also in the eye of the listener. And if they don't agree, then one of them is wrong, or <gasp> going to hell.

Look, I know that you think you're doing a good thing. You're trying to save their soul. Fifty years ago, people were trying to save the soul of those "evil left handers." Five hundred years ago, people were burnt at the stake for being "witches" in the name of God.

Do you REALLY think that the God you read about, the one of love and compassion and uncaring sympathy to his children, could hate us because of who we love? I don't.

My boss and I were talking on the two hour drive to the jobsite. Was the bible written down as soon as it was related to humans? The second it was? Nope. Was it dispensed freely to the people of the world prior to Martin Luther translating it to German? Nope. It was doled out to the masses in LATIN by the priests, and the people were told what was in it. Who knows what was added to it during that time?

I want only ONE person here to come forward and answer these next questions. That one person is the only person in the history of the planet to have survived from its creation to the present day. How was the earth created? Coalescing of gases, cooling into a solid rock, with a molten middle over 4.5 billion years? Or a snap of a proverbial finger in 24 hours? How was life created on this planet? Arduous, random chance that saw two amino acids joining to form the first protein, or a snap of a proverbial finger? How did humanity come about?  Eons of natural selection, mutations, survival of the fittest and environmental changes, or that same snap?

And don't tell me "IT SAY'S SO IN THE BIBLE SPIKERATNS!!!11" Because you can't use the book to prove the book. There's only ONE person in the HISTORY of the entire UNIVERSE that can accurately answer those questions. It's God. Has He told us? I dunno. The Bible is a good guidebook. But it's been through too many hands, too many translations, too many greedy people to be reliable as the definitive doctrine on all things.

As for homosexuals marrying, if it's the will of the people, I say it's all good. Does God want them to? I dunno. I'll ask Him when I see Him. I'll also be sure to ask Him what was up with the duck-billed platypus. I mean, really. That's an odd one.

So, c'mon people. Stop judging. Live your lives by caring for one another. Not hating people because they're different. Life's too short to have heart attacks from yelling out "THAY CANT GET MARRIED BECUASE THEIR TWO MENS!!!11" Live, let live, and enjoy everything.

God loves us. EVERY ONE. He'd be heartless to hate a child because of who he or she chooses to love. (Sorry, I do think it's a choice. Humanity was propagated by heterosexual relationships, therefore that's what's in our genes.)

1. Fact is the vast majority for the citizens & voters of this country (about 80%) do NOT WANT gay marriage. It was so VOTED by the ppl of California. And a handful of 'activist judges' versed the people's will! YOU think that's progress? The people have said no time and again, yet activist on the left always run to activist judges to over rule the ppl.
2. You're incorrect... God did not "create" man twice in Genesis. These are simple 2 accounts of the event; different perspective, repeats whatever you want to call it. If one reads the books of the Gospels, one could come to the same WRONG conclusion.
3. It sounds like you have dismissed the Bible,it's authority and of course, that it's the accurate Word God, so there is no need for any discussion. A closed mind can see no light. I do hope you will seek the Truth one day before it's too late.
4. God does extend his grace & love to all, wishing that no one is lost, but God does not love or accept sin. He is not the one 'hating', but those making a choice of going against what God has called "sin" and committing sinful acts of rebellion.
The 'problem' is not God and His judgments. The problem is man and his rebellion and sinful nature.

You nailed it, Spikey when you said, "I dunno."

Sure you're right on that!

Yeah you go Spiker! And is the Platty a bird or a mammal or a fish or what? When you see God ask him why we have dust bunnies and WHY are they dust bunnies? Why not dust cows?

Good for you, I think God has a great sense of humor and I think H'es probably tired of people killing each other in His name. We'll only know when we get there. Look for me I'll be the one with the duckbill under one arm

Just so it's clear, yes, there were five posts here. momcat54 posted twice, I removed the duplicate.

Skootzkitty, that critter is ALL of them. And as for a dust bunny, I call them dust platypuses.

Brokenhalo-- yup. And you don't know either. Nobody does.

Chardoney-- I disagree completely with the reversal of the voters will. I started my blog differently, even titling it "Heil Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals!", intending it to be a diatribe on the idiocy of these courts in making a decision for the masses like we're children. But then, I figured, hey, it's been done about five times already. So I changed it to this post.

No, God did not create man twice. The creation story was told twice, differently. That's kinda queer (no pun intended) to me. I find it funny that you don't comment on the other things I mentioned that are also weird, such as the interesting bit about how Australian, Chinese, North and South American, Siberian, etc. animals ended up on the Ark, etc. Pick and choose, I guess.

I dismiss the inaccuracies in the Bible. Is it God's word? Boil it down, yes. "Love one another. Be kind to one another." That's what I take from the book. Now, I want to ask you a question, all of you who feel this way, that the Bible is The Word, must be followed, and if not, you're going to hell.

The book of Leviticus is the book of laws in the Old Testament. All you mothers out there who go to church: if you had a boy, did you refrain from entering a church for forty days? Hmm? If it was a girl, for seventy three days? And after that time, did you present your pasto

SpikeRants read my blog view my photos
May 16, 2008 | 8:50 PM

And after that time, did you present your pastor with a one-year-old lamb and a pigeon or dove as burnt offerings?

That's in the same book that your beloved "Gays are going to hell" jargon came from . In that SAME CHAPTER, you're not allowed to sleep with relatives, in-laws, animals, or a woman on her period. How many women have had sex while on their period? By your rationale, you and your partner are going to hell.

See, this is what my problem is with some of my fellow Christians. You pick and choose what you're going to follow. Do you eat ham? GOING TO HELL! Do you tell your priest about mildew in your house? No? STRAIGHT TO HELL YOU GO! Ever eaten a rabbit? Satan's going to LOVE seeing you!

Nah. All of those laws in the book of Leviticus were put into place because of HYGIENE. You have mildew back in the day, sickness and disease spread. Circumcision was done to keep men penises from falling off due to some infection. Oh, and by the way, I'm not circumcised, my son isn't, and my new son won't be. Are we going to hell?

As for closed mindedness, I say whatever. That road is a two-way road my friend. You can be closed minded just as well. And you are. Your adherence to "My way or hell" is NOT what God wants. And it is that very nature that PUSHES people away and causes wars to be fought in His name.

As for the two creation stories, explain this: in the NRSV version of the Bible I'm looking at right now, plants were created on the third day. Man was created on the sixth day. Chapter two shows that man was created, and then the plants were put there. Huh?

Oh, and momcat54-- I think He does have a sense of humor as well. I know he does, because I hear Him laughing with humorous joy when my son says his nightly prayers.

Did you just read the parts in the Bible that you liked? Did you not read that God is a very vengeful God? Did you not read where he told Moses to kill everyone, man, woman, child and beast in some towns?
God can be a loving God, be he can also be a vengeful God. And if he’s God I’m sure he could put every creature on earth on a boat.
It doesn’t matter to me what you believe, but I don’t believe you should be preaching against the bible just because you can’t understand it or think you know everything about it, just as I don’t. But I think I will take my advice elsewhere than from you and your boss on a two-hour drive. I’m sure one day we will all find out the truth.

acoolone-- I don't think you should be telling people they're going to hell because of a choice they make. That is NOT YOUR CALL, IT'S GOD'S. I read John 3:16. But I ALSO read John 3:17: "For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior." John 3:18: "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN THE SON IS NOT JUDGED; but whoever does not believe has already been judged, because he has not believed in God's only Son."

Martin Luther founded the Protestant Reformation after reading these passages. If a gay person believes in God and the Son, he's not judged. Says so in the Bible.

And, as I've already said, you as a Christian pick and choose what you want to believe and follow. Why can't I? Do you SERIOUSLY go to your priest when your house has mildew? That's what I thought. So you see, you pick and choose.

Fluter-- AMEN. It's a dictatorship if that starts happening regularly.

I could care less what you have read. What you are doing and it is plan to see, is reading the bible to find fault in it. Now we can all do that with everything in the world. It’s easy to disbelieve, the hard part is believing and keeping faith.
By the way, I don’t go to church, but I choose to believe in God. The proof is all around you, but you have to open you eyes to see. Amen.
I also believe the morel thing is not being gay, now I guess your going to say morel is Godly. I also believe it should be up to the people of CA not a judge. If you believe in God he will do the judging when the time come.

Chardoney, it looks like you forgot the New Testament. It doesn't say ANYTHING about gays or gay marriage. Get out of the Old Testament and stop judging others.

SpikeRants, you, Ddawg, and a few others are the only ones that really "get it" on this blog. The rest just get a kick out of judging others. One of them is Chardoney; she is the best at it. Who cares if we have civil unions. It shouldn't matter what sex you are. I do believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, but civil unions should be equal to that when it comes to same sex unions. What I find crazy is how Texas has the anti sodomy law. That is ridiculous!

SpikeRants, I think God loves us for who we are and not for what others think of us. Gay, Bi, Straight, whatever. And Chardoney, don't try preaching to everyone how homosexuality is a lifestyle. We have all met gays who couldn't be made straight no more than an alchemist can turn iron into gold.

Get over it Queen of Mean.

First, about Martin Luther. he said actions did not bring you Jesus, but your actions, or the actions you wished to do, showed whether you had Jesus. Acting gay is not considered a good act, and shows that they are not justified.
You also mention how we don't follow the rites of the Old Testament. Those rites were established by God in the Torah, or law. By the way, Leviticus is only one of 5 of the books of law, the first five books of the Bible. This was a temporary covenant that was made between God and Abraham and his children before the coming of the true covenant in Jesus Christ. The laws of that covenant apply to man only in spirit or as Martin Luther put it, through our faith, because Jesus died on the cross pure of sin. So about circumcision, It is said that a man who accepts Jesus is circumcised in the spirit and saved. Also read the story about Peter's vision of the unclean animals (I believe it's in Acts). Jesus fulfilled the law not abolish it, and if you have accepted Jesus you are in accordance with the law.
As for priests, there were not priests until the papal orders were established in the 4th century, 2 centuries after the New Testament was canonized in it's CURRENT form. The Torah was written by Moses while having it dictated by God and the books of the prophets were obviously divinely inspired. The history books were written by Ezra based on annals of Jewish history. The books of poetry are not essential to faith, though two were written by Solomon who had divine wisdom. All these were canonized in the 4th century and never altered. Also o

First of all, as given2Christ stated Leviticus is only one of the fove books of the law known as the Torah. The other four are Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Secondly, as given2Christ also stated, the Torah was temporary. Christ came, as He said, to fulfill the law not to abolish it. Obviously there are things in the Old Testament Law which one would not do today such as cutting off a hand or gouging out an eye. All one has to do is use common sense. Thirdly, flipnotic, you are very badly mistaken about the New Testament having nothing to say about gays and lesbians. Go to Romans and read 1:26-27 and go to 1 Corinthians and read 6:9-10. In both of these two epistles of his, the Apostle Paul addresses homosexuals and it isn't pretty. By the way, SpikeRants, duck-billed platypuses are egg laying mammals of Australia and Tasmania. You also, SpikeRants need to be sure you know and understand what you are talking about before you rant about God's word because it is obvious that you don't. The very fact that you are asking as many questions as you are indicts you in your lack of understanding

RIGHT ON! I have a huge problem with people who cry JESUS ! JESUS ! in church then judge people the moment they leave church. Moreso, I cringe whenever they claim they are saved and are going to heaven. I mean, Are they really sure?

I do not think Jesus is this way.

If Jesus will judge people, let him do it. Do not imitate him because you are nowhere near like him.

To judge people is NOT in the bible! If you can cite the verse that instructs is to do, give it to us please. I may have missed it.
