Mel Gibson's DWI arrest in California and hateful statements.
Party girl, Lindsay Lohan, fired by her record label for incessant partying.

What's with these folks?
Do they think they're immune from any responsibility for their own actions?

But it's interesting how quickly they bounce back: witness the redemption of model Kate Moss from her cocaine scandal and broadcaster Marv Albert from his little sex-capade.

Can you 'forgive and forget' what Mel said? Will he pay a price at the box office when his next movie comes out in December?

Celebs. like anyone else should be held accountable for their actions. Saying "I'm sorry" after someone mentions what they did may affect their career, are just hollow words. What makes them think they are above the law?

Barbara Walters says she won't forgive Mel. Tom Cruise lost me a long time ago. The couch thing and the rant against Brook Shields just sealed the deal.

Kathy I believe the topic is Celebrities behaving badly. Not Presidents doing the nasty. Now if this blog thing was around at that time I'm sure a lot of us on here, myself included would have made comments (not good) about his behavior. Celebrities anymore are having a big voice in what the public preceives as the "truth" Look at Michael Moore. Then again don't. He didn't or doesn't think Clinton did anything wrong. This isn't just about Mel and a DUI (By the way he could have seriously injured or killed some innocent person) It's about the comments he made and the fact that he's now trying to back track because it could affect his career? It's about celebrities thinking they have the "right" to act any way they like. Thinking they are above the laws as written for the rest of the public. I know celebrities and yes, I have some in my family, and let me tell you they put their pants on one leg at a time as you or I. There "status" does not give them the right to do drugs and or alcohol and get behind the wheel and endanger your life, my life or any other persons life. It does not give them the right to single out a group of people for a personal attack. If a law is broken the penalty should be the same, be it Mel Gibson or Joe Public.

Forgiving Mel Gibson or not forgiving Mel Gibson is a personal decision for some who are personally affected by his comments. All I know is, for myself, one day, amongst many, I will need forgiveness, and keeping that principle in mind, sometimes, all any of us can do is say, "I'm sorry." Can't change what happened----can't take it back---the dye has been cast.

Carved in Stone

A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert.
During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand:
"TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE." They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE." The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone. Why?"The other friend replied:"When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But,when someone does something good for us, we must
engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE
YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.

Tim, I hear ya about celebs behaving badly. I find most of their "normal" actions and words to be offensive. When they break the law, I say don't cut them any slack.

For the DUI, prosecute according to the law and have a trial. Let the judge or jury decide punishment. Don't give anyone a break because of who they are- celeb or president.

For the hateful comments- its sad he went this direction. Some would say this is what is in his heart. Then again, he was drunk, and he was being arrested, so he might have just been grasping at straws to find some sort of insult. If we are honest, we all have thought bad thoughts when someone of a different race, gender or class offended us- even though we are not normally that sort of person. For this reason, if he asked forgiveness, I would give him a pass this time, and give him a chance to make amends.

Mel Gibson, CHarlie Sheen and a ton of other actors and actresses have made bad moves during their careers. I've been hearing more and more of the backlash about Mel's DUI and how it's going to hit him where it'll hurt the most..at the box office. He'll have a harder time getting financial backing for his future movies, because of his behavior.
