Okay, I have to admit that I have been waiting for radio stations to start playing Christmas music! But NEVER before Thanksgiving! Now it's okay to listen and enjoy the music of the season.

And it's time to dig through the Ryan family video collection or make a trip to the video rental store for Christmas movies.

The perennial favorite, of course, is Jimmy Stewart in "It's a Wonderful Life." A big reason is because for years the copyright had expired on the movie (due to an oversight by someone at the studio) and it did not cost TV stations anything to play it, over and over. Since then, however, the copyright has been "re-asserted" and you won't see it nearly as often.

My personal favorite: A Christmas Story. It's told from the viewpoint of a child, growing up in the 1940's. All he wants is a Red Rider BB gun. Hillarity, as they say, ensues.

Another: Home Alone. Let's face it: every boy has a secret fantasy of being a hero and outsmarting the bad guys. And at the end there is a sappy but heartwarming message about the love of family.

It's Christmas movie time, folks. I can smell the popcorn now! Your favorites?

Hands down, A Christmas Story and Charlie Brown Christmas!

We tried to take the oldest to see Polar Express in the theatre but the animation freaked her out and we ended up leaving. She's six now, so we may try to watch that one this year.

Maybe this cute kitty picture in a bathing suit will start preparing her for it.

I took my mother to see the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular over the weekend. It was such a wonderful show, we were sorry that it had to end. My mother, who grew up in NYC in the 30's & 40's, said that this show brought back so many memories for her. Please read my Nov. 26 blog about this great time. This is a show that put the both of us into the Christmas Spirit. But most of all, it put a sparkle back into my mother's eyes that I hadn't seen since my father died in 1993. She was like a kid again, when her parents would take her into the Radio City Music Hall. Because of this, the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular is now my favorite Christmas show. I hope they will put this on video or DVD, because I will defnitlely want to have it.

My all time fav Christmas movie is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and I also think Earnest Saves Christmas is a cute movie too.

Little plagiarism here to start things off right.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”

Nice piece of writing isn’t it. Any way no matter what you feel is offensive your taste differs from mine. Hatred will not disappear by putting band aids on a language and limiting my resources as a writer, or speaker. That said I am a white male and I am offended by racist terms but I will not insist that I know for all times what is best and what words should be outlawed. For that matter neither does anyone else. It is simply a bad idea to tell me what is best for my ears and mouth and how to use them. Or more succinctly its unconstitutional. Man that felt nice to type. Lenny Bruce believed that our associations with words could be changed by desensitizing us to offensive words and thereby empowering us to be less afraid of them. Well he’s dead and someone wants to remove my constitutional right to free speech with one well intentioned omission from our language. George Carlin took the fight to the supreme court, and sadly lost. Lenny would have been proud of his spirit and sympathetic. We stop being free when we depend on others to baby sit and decide what is ok for us as a people to be able to handle. Im 36 and think I can handle an offensive word now and again without shooting myself. What right do I have to write these words.

continued from my previous. apparently there is a cutoff. what a mess.
. I am a white middle class working male, and a well a citizen of the united states of America. Don’t tell me what is offensive by making it illegal and passing an unconstitutional law. I think I can handle it and make up my own mind about what is offensive to me and remove my self from the source of discomfort. Now I am off to end my evening with a bit of profane and funny humor in the comfort of my private home. Thank you.

I love all of them!

Who watched Charlie Brown last night? My son was rolling his eyes because my husband and I had piled up on the couch to watch. We were laughing pretty hard. *S*

LOL, Blister! I have Attention Deficit Disorder too!

Well, along with the Rockettes now being my fav, I have lots of favorite Christmas shows. It all depends what mood I'm in. I really think my all-time fav is "It's a Wonderful Life". That movie is such a great inspiration & shows us what is really important.

Miracle on 42nd Street has got to be my favorite Christmas movie.
Looking for Christmas music on the radio? 103.5 FM is all Christmas all the time. They switched to this format about three weeks ago.

Well if everyone did not think a 80,000lb peice of metal going 55 to 65 mph could stop on a dime we would not have this trouble.
I think there will be more trouble because big trucks do try to get out of the way when someone is trying to get on the freeway know if they can not move over people will have to YEILD. If not they will find out how 80,000lbs fells going 50 to 65 mph in the rear and I do not think that will feel good. If you see a big truck be nice to him, they are not all bad. There are alot good drivers out there that have to pay for a few that do not know how to drive.
Thank You
