The New Yorker has printed the following cover in an attempt to show how conservatives see the Obamas.   Funny that, taken out of the snooty New York state of mind, this cover appears to be quite racist.  In this issue of Bus&Driver: Obama vs. The New Yorker.

Cover of July 21 issue of The New Yorker depicts Barack and Michelle Obama in extremist roles.

The left is indeed the most racist. Liberals routinely receive a pass on anything negative they say to one another.

In addition, programs giving or showing favoritism to certain people are thinly veiled, and racist to the core.

I was shocked by the cover. Not something I would expect from any publication.

I did a blog on it too... but I think you missed their point (NYorker's) which was to BASH the conservatives buy saying THIS is what WE think of the Bamers, & not disparage their savior. Sadly, the highly sensitive Bamers were highly offended, as EVERYTHING offends the savior of left.

It's very strange, but since Obama moderated his message there have been several critical columns from normally liberal writers at The Washington Post and The New York Times. I don't know if this is just the normal skepticism of journalists or if there's a bigger issue that the majority of us just don't know about...yet. I do think the cover is pretty appalling and I don't know how they are going to get around it since The New Yorker is generally a liberal magazine. Strange days indeed, most peculiar....

I thought I expressed that in my first sentence, Char!

It is shocking - the left prints cartoons of any conservative blacks (Condi, Clarence Thomas) portraying them in a stereotypical way - similar to the way they were portrayed in the 1920s. I was surprised to see them print the picture of the Obamas - looks like something you would see out of a Neo-Nazi or something - but in their defense (har har) it was to poke fun at conservatives....

The LA times called him "Barack the Magic Negro" and I'll be darned if they didn't try to pin that one on Rush Limbaugh!

TI, some people have a hard time with reading comprehension. I thought your first sentence was quite clear.

"Barack the Magic Negro" is actually a parody of the song, "Puff the Magic Dragon". And Rush did play it on his show.

He did play "Barack the Magic Negro" as a Paul Shanklin parody of both "Puff the Magic Dragon" and of the LA Times story dubbing him the magic negro. In fact, it even states where he got the name in the song ("the LA Times they call him that because he's black but not authentically.." in Al Sharpton bullhorn voice).

David Ehrenstein's "magic negro" editorial can be read here.

Sounds like most conservative pieces written about Obama to me.

LOL- this is exactly how (most) of you folks here see BHO - which is precisely why New Yorker is featuring "politics of fear" -

In the last link he calls for conservative Supreme Court Justice Scalia's murder. David Ehrenstein is far from a conservative. He is a declared progressive.

Again I say that most attacks on Obama's race, etc come from the left.

We on the right criticize him for lack of executive experience, self-admitted poor judgement, and Marxist tendencies. The left accuses us of attacking based on race which reveals their own obsession with race combined with efforts to make anyone who disagrees with them out to be racist bigots.

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen

Meaning

Don't persist with a task if the pressure of it is too much for you. The implication being that, if you can't cope, you should leave the work to someone who can.

Greatest analysis thus far: Rush Limbaugh posed the question "Who gets all upset and bent out of shape about a silly cartoon? Radical Muslims"

He also played clips from several different shows saying that if they had portrayed Rush Limbaugh painting the picture then it would have been better received and more people would have understood.

Oh, we understand what you're saying, New Yorker. How stupid do you think we are? You are painting us (the conservatives) as racist bigots.
