And it is for moments like these - similar to the "c'mon, BLEEP" swagger of Rumsfeld.  I apologize in advance as I cannot view videos at my place of employment, so I will ask you to watch the linked video of our President telling reporters why people are capable of making their own decisions and he's not going to nanny them:

WHY WOULD IT BE THE GOVERNMENT NOSY BUSINESS what anyone keeps their home temperature too or how much they drive or what they drive!! I am so sick of the arrogant boobs and their blatant stupidity, acting like PUNISHING AMERICANS is the answer to everything.

These are nothing but socialists fooools.

I have voiced my disagreements with Bush on many occasions, but he goes and does something like that and I remember why I like him more than a democrat any day. I think I have addressed your violent capslocking - it was hard to make out a coherent sentence so please let me know if you have any unanswered questions.

I do believe you meant *ahem* "I BET YOU WOULD BEND OVER FOR BOTH OF THESE RETARDS". What do you mean? If they dropped their pencil I would gladly bend over and pick it up because I respect them. Even if Bill Clinton dropped his pencil I would pick it up - although I would be significantly more cautious.

The reporter is a moron. Bush pushed for a comprehensive energy bill the first year he was in office. It contained all sorts of energy saving initiatives in it and money to develop alternative energy and fuels. It was stopped by the Democrats because it contained a provision to allow drilling in ANWR. Bush pushed for the same bill several more times and finally got a watered down version last year that really won't help much.

Had the Democrats not blocked the bill in 2001, gas would cost a lot less than 4 bucks a gallon today and oil would be under 100 bucks a barrel.

Bush is far nicer than I would be in the same position. I'd have unloaded on the Democrats about this issue at every turn over the past year or so. I suspect Bush is keeping mum on the issue because John McCain is one of the Senators who voted against drilling in ANWR.

The energy problem is the Democrats fault and someone somewhere should call them on it.

As of July 15 his approval is at 13%. That is better than the 9% dem controlled congress gets.

Approval ratings refer to how the entity in question is doing the job, not how much you like them as a person. I disagree with many of Bush's policies but I like him.

It's funny. In watching the news conference, which was a LONG one, the president came off as conversational. He's not the polished orator like Obama or Reagan, but when it came to explaining the oil process from drill head to gas station, it was pretty clear. While some politicians are better from a teleprompter, I think Bush is better when he discusses things.

TTB - completely accurate statement. Did you know that he pronounces "nuclear" correctly when he's not in front of a camera? I think he's hilarious.

Well Gurkha, you are a Bush/Cheney hating, free market hating, freedom hating, American dream hating, pinko loving Marxist.

If only the goverment was controlled by rich Democrats and their rich friends like Hollywood and everyone else lived in shacks with no A/Cs, had to use mass transist or walk. Stand in lines to see a doctor or buy food, that would be narvana for you wouldn't.

Otherwords bring back the days when there was only two classes, the Wealthy and the peasants.
