UPDATE 8/27/08: all charges have been dropped.  Could this be a ploy to further the idea of racism playing a part in Obama's failings?

So for all of you out there who say that I, and numerous others on the blogs, are racist for not liking Obama, I give you this.  WE are not racist.  THESE are racists.

DENVER (CBS4) ? CBS4 has now learned at least four people are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to kill Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.

CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass reported one of the suspects told authorities they were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a ... rifle … sighted at 750 yards."

Law enforcement sources tell Maass that one of the suspects "was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative."

The story began emerging Sunday morning when Aurora police arrested 28-year-old Tharin Gartrell. He was driving a rented pickup truck in an erratic manner according to sources.

Sources told CBS4 police found two high-powered, scoped rifles in the car along with camouflage clothing, walkie-talkies, a bulletproof vest, a spotting scope, licenses in the names of other people and methamphetamine. One of the rifles is listed as stolen from Kansas.

Subsequently authorities went to the Cherry Creek Hotel to contact an associate of Gartrell's. But that man, who was wanted on numerous warrants, jumped out of a sixth floor hotel window. Law enforcement sources say the man broke an ankle in the fall and was captured moments later. Sources say he was wearing a ring with a swastika, and is thought to have ties to white supremacist organizations.

A third man -- an associate of Gartrell and the hotel jumper was also arrested. He told authorities that the two men "planned to kill Barack Obama at his acceptance speech."

That man, along with a woman, are also under arrest.

The Secret Service, FBI, ATF and the joint terrorism task force are all investigating the alleged plot.

The U.S. Attorney in Denver has scheduled a news conference for Tuesday afternoon.

Gosh, where are all the 'racist callers'? All gone to bed? Not up yet? But as we know, they define being a racist as "I disagree with you". True bigotry is usually ignore on their part. As the racist words & utterances than fall out of Obam & MEchell's mouth. From members of the Dem's in Congress. From Jackson & Sharpton. Or like Sen. Bird, who was a member in high standing with the KKK, who's still serving in the Senate.
Proponents of affirmative action, are racist, since that's all AA has become, acceptable bigotry. There's real racism around, and it's ignored & cheered by the ignorant.
Fortunately for the Obama's, any 'racism' they face is dwindling. They're not liked simply for their words & deeds.

They want to kill Obama because he's half black. We don't like him because he's an inexperienced socialist. That is the opinion I have gotten from the majority of bloggers. Surely you can appreciate the differences.

Like I said, not saying you're racist against Obama. I'm just contending that just because those people are racist, doesn't mean you guys can't be.

Besides, I realize it's brown skin that all the people on this blog dislike.

Thanx a lot, sal? Just because I/we can recognize TRUE racism in the elitist democrat party or wherever else it pops up, doesn't mean I'm saying you throw that word around at others like it's confetti. "Not saying you do, in this particular case, just making a point". :( Come on now.

We're not supposed to call Obama, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, we can't call him the Bomer, the great Obam, Bomber, Bam, Obam, Obambi, but McCain(almost any Republican) can be called Hitler, nazi, a bleep, bleep, bleep and bleep hating bleep? humm, where does freedom of speech end and BIG social driven, 'PC' correct government take over?

Obam IS a socialist. Anyone who like Socialism, he's your man. Shouldn't be afraid to admit it. I'm opposed to it, as is our Constitution and form of government though.

Call him whatever you want. When you choose to call someone by their middle name or "Bomber", it shows YOUR bias and your need to villify someone, because you have nothing else to go with.

I keep saying it, and I will continue to do so, the hatred that comes out of his church sounds like Nation of Islam. Islam itself is a bastardization of the Bible - even going so far to say that Jesus (although He's not the son of God because then Mohammed wouldn't be as cool) will come back and kill all the Christians for worshipping Him.

I'm feeling better. The boy is with his grandmother today.

No, I'm making fun of his name! So what? That isn't racist, you do see that, right? LOL I'll also call McC, McC and McLame. OBambi WAS a muslim because his father was muslim, it's part of the muslim LAW. (this is something he tried to cover up. humm, curious. His NAME is BARRY, which he change TO/back to Barrack when he entered college. Why?) He IS a socialist/marxist. That's a fact. Deal with it.

He changed what he went by from Barry to Barack because he didn't want to act like he was ashamed of his heritage anymore.

MM - that's where the nickname came from, you can't police thought - they might be calling him a terrorist or they might be referring to basketball. We play a dangerous game when we claim to be able to judge peoples thoughts.
