Apparently a National Day of Prayer has made atheists feel left out of the political process.  They have filed suit against President Bush, the Governor of Wisconsin, and the White House Press secretary to name a few for endorsing this National Day of Prayer.  So because they don't believe in God they are willing to make sure that people who do believe in God of all backgrounds aren't legitimized with a government sanctioned day.

Why don't they make a National Day of Reflection?  Or a National Day of Absolutely Nothing Spiritual?  Perhaps a National Day of Arrogance?  Why must they tie up our court systems with this drivel just because they feel left out?  This is a country of religious freedom.  You may believe or not believe as you so choose.  Nothing bad has ever come from encouraging people to pray and perhaps we'd be in better shape if more people prayed faithfully.

Just another case of atheists and agnostics trying to ruin the party for everyone else.

Who's funding their expenses? Let's follow the trail of money and find out.

They've already sued over this and took it all the way to the Supreme Court - who ruled in Hein v. Freedom From Religion Foundation that taxpayers do not have the right to challenge the constitutionality of expenditures by the executive branch of the government. This was also filed in Wisconsin.

I guess this is their second attempt. But that does beg the question you asked, kicksave. I'm researching. Any ideas?

So far it looks like they hold atheist fundraisers for FFRF - I guess if you don't tithe 10% you can give 10% to FFRF?

And one more thing before I quit thinking for the evening - their main purposes (per their website) are to promote freedom FROM religion and to file lawsuits. Based on reading briefly on their site they appear to be a bunch of boring people. Who is the man behind the curtain.... Hmmm...

I see nothing wrong with a National Day of Prayer. It's not forcing anything on anyone. I can't believe it made it all the way to the Supreme Court.

Taking things through the right circuits of appeals combined with a lot of money can take just about anything to the Supreme Court. Good morning! Help me find out who funds them - you are way better at that stuff than I am!

Good morning to you. :)

I don't know how to find out who funds them. On their website it states:

The Foundation is funded by membership dues and specific gifts.

Yep - that's what I saw too. Maybe they are just funded by atheists and agnostics. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! Haha.

And they don't even have to pay taxes. I bet that irks your brain.

No - it is their right to freedom of religion. However, I think they should have to live by the same rules as a church.

I just wish they would respect everyone else's right to worship as they choose.

I pity atheists. They have no idea what is in store for them.

Haha mike - hilarious!

Holly - it makes me sad. I mean they are so angry with people of faith - call us stupid and even insane - yet all we want is salvation for everyone.

ever notice the atheists dont really give a crap about the muslims, buddhists, etc...they just attack the christians...isnt that a bit selective?

They secretly love that the muslims want to blow us up. Plus, when's the last time you saw a buddhist argue with anyone? They don't like dissent - damned Christians tell them they are wrong when they think they are soooo smart.

Or, it's all because people like you gave them wedgies when they were trying to play dungeons and dragons.

I never cease to be amazed at the people who get the words freedom OF religion mixed up with the words freedom FROM religion. Just in case no one has ever said it, we have the freedom OF religion. All people even atheists have a religion. Some people are just not familiar with the head of their particular group.

What do you expect in a country trying to elect a muslim for President.

I guess if they decide to grow some and take on muslim groups, they'll need more money for body guards because muslims will want them dead. That's why they take on Christians and Christian groups. The worst that can happen is Christians praying for their salvation.
