When college football was first televised, the concept was to bring the viewer into the game by showing the whole game and the various components such as cheerleaders, bands, crowds and such that made up the game. Now when college football is televised, instead of seeing bands at halftime, we see a six second blip and then they switch to some hasbeen coach expressing his dubious opinion or some lame interview with some celebrity trying to score points. I am watching the OU-WV game and during half time, they say they will show the bands, but then in addition to the "analysis" -which means former players and coaches either shooting off their mouths OR canned interviews with coaches and players, and then some Morgan Freeman presentation-which in my mind means "ad." Give us a break TV folks. We aren't stupid. I want to see the bands. Those kids DO work as hard as the players and this is their bowl game as well. Stop tooting your own horn by using halftime as just another promotional moment and SHOW THE HALFTIME!!!!!!

I'm with you TexasTB - those kids in the bands are an important part of the sport, and work hard to learn those skills.

Highlights of every other game that has been played is a bunch of BLEEP too ! We've already sit through hours of watching those games, don't repeat it in short version, over & over & over !

What REALLY steams me is when they use the halftime of college games to promote the pro games. Isn't there enough promotion out there without this? I had kids in band and I was in band. Those kids are the first ones working in the dog days of summer and the last ones gone when graduation ends. If their team, which often only had them in the stands as fans, makes it to a bowl then the cheerleaders, bands and all the other school hoopla should take precedence over the stupid fantasy games and junk that they throw at us.

I am a teacher, a mother and wife and I like to think I am a pretty good citizen. I read ALOT. I also write a good deal on various blogs. I appreciate a chance to respond to what we see in the news. I think that by posting our opinions we can probably find that everyone is more alike than we are willing to admit. Face it, people just like to argue. I would also like to say how much I appreciate having a forum for my views.
