Tony Snow died after a long bout with color cancer. He was 53. That's too young to die and he leaves behind family and friends who know that. I listened to him on the radio and while I didn't always agree with his views, he was informed, respectful and offered insight into the world of politics that few seasoned reporters accomplish. There will be those who say snide things because he was President Bush' communications officers for awhile. But he did that knowing that he needed to make a difference and knowing that the people there previously weren't getting the job done. Tony Snow made a difference. He's gone now. I hope the media will have at least as much respect for him as they have for others.

Way too young for anyone to die. I wish the best for his family.

I was shocked to hear of his death this morning, I saw him a few weeks ago and he actually looked better than he had in a while. He and I are the same age and much too young to die. I will pray for his wife and children.

Very sad indeed. He was wonderful as Bush's Press Secretary, soooo good on Fox (hated when he left) and had a good radio show. We were so hoping he'd beat this.
Prayers and comfot to his family.

I believe Tony Snow was a good man, an honest man. He made me think and smile on numerous occasions. The world needs more of his kind not less. He will be missed. My deepest condolences go out to his family.

He will be missed. I was so upset when he resigned but figured something serious was going on.

Right now, I am really mad at both the AP and the Washington Post. The Post just took down the comments section on Tony's story because the venom was over the top. The AP on the other hand, let some editorial comments make it in the obit. I've already complained. This is worse than you realize because many papers simply get stuff from the AP and put it on the front page.

Gurkha: Your entry is a prime example of the absolute mindless violence and venom that is driving the Democrat party. To imply that cancer is visited on ANYONE as a judgement of their life is to accuse everyone who has ever died of the disease. You are a menace and I fully intend to make sure that you are removed. I find this offensive, I find this inflamatory and counterproductive.

I have removed Gurkha's offensive post. While there are some people I may not agree with, I won't be posting such filth on the day that they die. If you want to know what he posted, ask. But the general theme was that cancer was a punishment and by association, that makes anyone who has the disease someone being punished. I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone.

I left his post on mine because it shows what a wicked and foul person he is. When Ted Kennedy got that brain tumor, all of us righties sucked up our hatred for his policies and expressed our heartfelt sympathies.

If I didn't honestly believe, TI, that there is an influence that punishes evil and rewards good, I would go mad. Sometime, somewhere down the line, G will suffer or have a loved one suffer from just such a disease, and at that point, his words will come back to haunt him. At least then he will maybe learn to develop some compassion and humanity that overreaches mere politics.

That requires a sort of emotional and rational complexity that escapes many people.

I am a teacher, a mother and wife and I like to think I am a pretty good citizen. I read ALOT. I also write a good deal on various blogs. I appreciate a chance to respond to what we see in the news. I think that by posting our opinions we can probably find that everyone is more alike than we are willing to admit. Face it, people just like to argue. I would also like to say how much I appreciate having a forum for my views.
