I realize that with the infatuation with the meaningless drivel that is preseason football, many of you may not realize that the Rangers,
Yes the
TEXAS RANGERS
,
are playing some upfront, kicka** baseball. They beat the YANKEES last night with a grand slam homerun in the bottom of the ninth. Folks, these kids are for real. But nobody will know it because even though its meaningless preseason for the Cowboys, they end up at the top of the sports news every time. C'mon guys, I would hate to think that maybe our
TEXAS RANGERS
would make it to the playoffs without anyone knowing because of the narrowminded avarice of the local sports media. I know Jerry gives you guys nice accommodations and fancy feeds, but why don't we let a club that is actually competing NOW have the headlines over guys that are just practicing?

Directly from wikipedia...."The Rangers are one of the least successful teams in MLB history, being one of four teams to have never played in a World Series, having never won a league championship. They are also one of only two franchises to have never won a playoff series since the franchise's inception in 1961."

Enough said. GO COWBOYS!!!

I think the main reason that they always fade at the end is because of the heat down there. It has to take it's toll on the players, playing the better part of 81 games a season in that heat. Especially the pitchers.

Maybe they should try to attach a re-tractable roof to that stadium, I mean....If Al Gore can win a noble prize, anything is possible! :)

True, the Rangers haven't had the stellar history of some clubs. But then what about clubs like the Cubs, who have had losing season, but whose fans are ardent in their support? We look like a bunch of fair weather fans. And frankly, I am tired to death of the Cowboys being the top story every time they stub their toes or have a hangnail. How about you give credit where credit is due.

The Rangers have won 1 playoff game in their entire history. Of course, they've only been around for 47 years.

When the fans keep showing up to support an inferior team, Hicks knows he doesn't have to do what it takes to improve. Hicks should take a lesson from Jerry Jones; don't just do what it takes to be competitive, do what it takes to give you a chance of winning it all.

They beat the Yankees again, though not much help from the overrated CJ Wilson. They need a real closer.

Too bad the Angels aren't losing. The Rangers have their only shot at the playoffs as a wild card. But stranger things have happened in MLB.

Pre-season football is rather boring as it doesn't give anyone watching a true look at a team's potential.

Preseason football is just about hype and making more money for the owners. It means absolutely nothing.

For those who are nay sayers, remember Yogi Bera's saying, "It isn't over till its over". The Florida Marlins as a brand new team to baseballwent to the playoffs as a wild card team and won the World Series. The New York Giants went to the playoffs last football season as a wild card team and won the Super Bowl. They didn't win it, but in 2007 the Colorado Rockies went to the playoffs as a wild card team and went to the World Series. The Detroit Tigers went from losing more than one hundred games in 2005 to going to the World Series in 2006. They didn't win it but still had two back to back seasons which were worlds apart. As is evident in the above examples, the teams we least suspect to win can end up wining it all. Sufice it to say that anything can happen.

I am a teacher, a mother and wife and I like to think I am a pretty good citizen. I read ALOT. I also write a good deal on various blogs. I appreciate a chance to respond to what we see in the news. I think that by posting our opinions we can probably find that everyone is more alike than we are willing to admit. Face it, people just like to argue. I would also like to say how much I appreciate having a forum for my views.
