Just heard recently that one of several children burned by their mother died of her injuries.  As much as I'm saddened by this I am not a bit surprised.  Yet another case where a mother kills her kids.  Hmmm, I wonder what excuse the defense will use this time?    Whatever they devise you can make sure that it will not hold the mother accountable.  Now this doesn't surprise me any, even though it doesn't make much sense.  After all, Texas executes more people than any other State for lesser crimes.  However, there is a double standard they use when it concerns a woman.  That being said, I only have one question I need answered.  If the act of killing one's mother is matricide, the act of killing one's father patricide, what is the correct term for one whon kills their own offspring?  I have a word for it, HOMICIDE!!  Care to argue?

I don't get it either.Seems like a Mother taking the life of her own children is so cold hearted and concience free. I mean murder itself is a terrible act but goodness, for a Mother to do that to her child is just..I don't know, I just can't fathom that.Heck all the murderers could claim some type of temporary insanity plea but murder is still murder no matter what.

there is a word for killing infants , it's called , oddly enough , infanticide .

Homicide is a generic term to describe murder . so, matricide , patricide and infanticide would all fall into that catagory

so , no issue on the meaning of words , what is it you want to argue about then ?

Life has become a cheap commodity. People have the assumption that all kids are the same and if they lose one, no big deal. Kids aren't the flip of a coin or the roll of a dice, they are individuals. And as much as I hear rhetoric about the welfare of children in generic terms, I see precious little that laws, rules, legislation or dogma has done for their plight. Once we opened the door to let women push their rights over everyone else's we saw a spike in child deaths through neglect, or through intention. I am not a wild eyed prolife advocate, but when you take away the stigma of killing a child, then you run the risk of having it become more common. Sort of like out of wedlock pregnancies.

Not a thing, hillsborohillbilly. You argued it for me and I thank you for that! I was trying to find the right word and damn if you didn't do it for me! Still, it will be interesting to know how this one pans out in the legal system. Tell me hillsborohillbilly, you aren't going to play the BLEEP and say the woman had a good reason for setting her kids afire. You Texan's have the tendency to lean torwards that way and I'm a bit curious as to how you think. Patricide, Matricide, Infanticide, it all boils down to what I said initially and what you agree to, HOMICIDE! Same as murder, Einstein! Cowboy'swife58, I agree! Killing another is nothing compared to killing your own offspring and I am as disgusted by the ability of these women to get away scott free by killing their own! You're right! It's unfathomable as all get out, yet it continues to flourish! The time for letting these women off due to blame is gone, and this mother shoulkd be held accountable for what she has done.
