Who say's building a fence is wasted money?  According to news items across Texas the fence along the USA-Mexico border is doing the job it should be doing, keeping the influx of illegals out.    Well, why wouldn't it work?   The 'Great Wall of China' did it's job keeping out the Mongolians, right?  Oh, and what about the 'Berlin Wall', hmmm?  Let's not forget the 'Berlin Wall'.  Sure, it came down eventually, but it kept those nasty Easterners out now, didn't it?  Hey, it's the best thing we got going, short of vigilantism, and I say give the fence a chance!

Sorry Reb - that might hurt some illegal's feelings, and we can't do that.

We'd have to put in a gate every fifty feet or so, so they could get to their welfare checks.

They have rights, we have none !

John Lennon sang it best, "All we are saying, is give the fence a chance."

Well making the fence electric is quite a good idea for economic development. They would simply start building right across the from the fence, tap into it, and have free electric. Well, not free, we'd be paying for it, just like everything else.

You've got that right, Ironman.

muddywaterP, you read my mind! Indeed an electrified fence set near the river crossings would be a determent, for sure. However, let us not forget the millions of other crossings on land and electrify the whole frigging wall! Furbie, Lee, Scotty and Ironman, welcome to the club. Might I make a suggestion to you all? Go to CFIR.org and sign on! I did, and the changes are coming! Have a great week-end!
