So, how many of you Texans have leased your mineral rights to the oil companies, huh? Quite a few of you, no doubt. Expecting to make a bit of money out of the deal, I suppose, right? After all, according to the latest statistics companies like Shell, Conoco Phillips and Chevron have been raking in the dough hands over fist, and it just seems to keep coming. It would stand to reason that they would share a little with those of you who leased their goods to them, right? Hey, I can see your reasons behind your actions, but I can't believe you would actually believe such nonsense. What, has the high price of gas and the Texas heat fried your brains that much? Have you ever heard of any such thing happening, ever? If so, then please enlighten me on it because I would like to know. I don't know about you and yours, but I do know folks who thought the same as you did. Like you they felt that the oil companies would reward them for their mineral rights as promised and they waited. And waited, and waited, and waited. Many are still waiting to this day for the money they were promised, or at the very least the chance to use what reserves they had. Some of them wonder what's the use having oil at all if you can't use it every once in a while. I wonder about that, as well. So much in fact that I went to the oil companies themselves and asked that same exact question. Know what they told me? That the amount of oil in those reserves is too low to make any difference save a few dollars at the pump. And just what the hell's wrong with saving a few dollars? I don't know about you, saving a few dollars in my pocket at the local gas station sounds pretty good right about now. To those of you already under contract to a Barnett Shoals or any other oil company, too bad, so sad. Better luck next time, eh? As for the rest of you out here with mineral rights to lease, hold out as long as you can. Remember the case of ultimate domain is still used here in Texas, and the oil companies will certainly use that law to their advantage and take your land right out from under you. Why should you make their wallets even fatter than the are already, right? You know TheReb has been approached several times about selling my mineral rights, and the offers keep pouring in. Barnett Shoals is having yet another meeting sometime this week here in Indian Hills to try and convince me to get on the bandwagon and this time I plan on making the meeting. I want to see the look on their faces when I refuse them yet again and tell them my reasons why. Man, it's gonna be great! Take care!
