Following today's buzz generating conversation with Bill Clinton, Chris Wallace shared some of his post-interview thoughts with FishbowlDC:

I was delighted to get the chance to interview former President Clinton. This was the first one-on-one sitdown he's ever given "Fox News Sunday" during our 10 years on the air.

The groundrules were simple--15 minutes--to be divided evenly between questions about the Clinton Global Initiative and anything else I wanted to ask.

I intended to keep to the groundrules. In fact--I prepared 10 questions--5 on the CGI and 5 on other issues.

I began the interview with 2 questions about Mr. Clinton's commitment to humanitarian causes. His answers were cogent and good-humored.

Then--I asked him about his Administration's record in fighting terror--fully intending to come back to CGI later (as indeed I did).

I asked what I thought was a non-confrontational question about whether he could have done more to "connect the dots and really go after al Qaeda."

I was utterly surprised by the tidal wave of details--emotion--and political attacks that followed.

The President was clearly stung by any suggestion that he had not done everything he could to get bin Laden. He attacked right-wingers--accused me of a "conservative hit job"--and even spun a theory I still don't understand that somehow Fox was trying to cover up the fact that NewsCorp. chief Rupert Murdoch was supporting his Global Initiative. I still have no idea what set him off.
Former President Clinton is a very big man. As he leaned forward--wagging his finger in my face--and then poking the notes I was holding--I felt as if a mountain was coming down in front of me.

The President said I had a smirk. Actually--it was sheer wonder at what I was witnessing.

I tried repeatedly to adhere to the ground rules--to move the President along--and back to the CGI. But he wanted to keep talking about his record fighting terror.

When it became clear he wanted to throw out the ground rules--then I just went with the flow of the interview.

Bill Clinton goes absolutely ballistic when asked a challenging question regarding the Clinton administration terror policy because he has no real defense for it and he knows it. The only thing Clinton could respond with is by trying to push Richard Clarke’s book and to accuse Chris Wallace of being some sort of political hack. Yeah, like that really answered the question with substance.

What's even more funny is the left somehow scores this a victory because "...he went off on Chris Wallace and showed him up..."
More evidence that resentment and hate are the driving force behind the Party of Pelosi-that's Italian for idiot.

Sad, really.

He was quite a spectacle wasn't he?

He didn't do a thing to go after the terrorist.

I think we have seen that "tidal wave of emotion" before....

I seem to remember something like "I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL WITH THAT WOMAN" being pretty much filled with the same rage and emotion he presented in this interview...

And, he was lying the last time, he expects us to believe him now?

Clinton was just being himself.... an arrogant, narcissistic, pompous woman chaser who has no respect for himself, the truth or the country.

What an actor he is!!! He did it all for the effect!! He knows that history will not treat him kindly--so while he is still around he is trying to correct all of his huge mistakes!!!

He doesn't like to be made to look like a failure--he is trying to correct it all! He should have thought of that at the time he was in office!!

Anyone listen to Rush L??? He is commenting on the interview and has made the comment that Clinton did try to protect us and did a fine job of protecting us from----The Branch Davidions.

I often think of Waco, and Reno, and how we used our own military to take down these private citizens within the borders of the USA.

I dont related to the people who died such a horrible death. They were out there for sure. But to use such incredible force- Tanks!- to take them down on some sort of timeline, as if they could have harmed anybody. It was shameful at best.

Then there were these people trying to actually kill us, and he did nothing of substance. And he is critical of what we are doing now.

Clinton is a joke. So is her husband Bill.

Someone reminded me of the Nixon disposition during the "..I'm not a crook..." diatribe.
I thought that just about says it all.

I'll be posting an analysis of all the Richard Clarke references that Clinton invited Americans to examine.
Not pretty...
