It sounded like 7 shots from a 50 caliber rifle in 1 1/2 seconds, and hit the water tower near
California Trail.  I've seen multiple strikes before, but not seven in a row.

WOW! I bet that was spectacular in its self! I have seen... and felt lightning up close and too personal. I was almost struck when I was in the second grade. Scary is hardley the word that discribes it. My mom and I were going to the car so she could take me to school. There was a bad storm the night before, and appearantly there was still a lingering charge somewhere in the atmosphere and we were the negative. I remember telling my mom that I would race her to the car and just when I was about to take off running, everything went white, bright, hot, and quiet, except for a little electrical hissing noise right by my ear. I was too young then to realize what had just happened. I ran to the car and BOOOOOOOOOM! I ran the other direction back to my mom screaming as if someone had been coming after me with a boogy man mask on. It was quiet the event that day. I look back on it sometimes when it rains. I just don't like to get out of the house when its raining or stoming. Its area wide nap day.

I'm familiar with that hissing noise by the ear and/or the hair on my ears standing up.
The first time was crewing on a tall ship and coming topside to observe "Saint Elmo's Fire" in the rigging.
The 2nd time was playing golf on a hill above Cincinnati. We could hear thunder way off in the distance and were trying to finish up as fast as possible. Then each of us felt a tingling on the tops of our ears. We dropped everything and ran for the ditch as a bolt of lightning hit the flag on the green.

MAN! I that didn't make your butt pucker, then I don't know what ever would! I feel prone to lightning strikes now because even if its about to storm, my hair on my head will stand straight up on end. My dad and I were outside walking around. Its was going to storm that day. It was cloudy but we decided to take a walk anyway before it rained. As we were walking, there were some houses to the left of us and railroad tracks to the right. He looked at me and told me to run to cover. I ran, as he looked around for a safe place to split too. He turned back around and started shouting for me. I hid my self well and fast. As soon as he found me and took cover with me, the spot where I was standing, a lightning bolt hit. WOW! Its a good thing he told me to run. You know what I'm talking about W0OOG!
