Name: Johnny Macho
Gender: Male, neutered
Size: Medium
Age: Young Adult
Breed: Russian Blue Mix
Color: Grey and White
Johnny Macho is a very handsome Russian Blue mix who was born in January 2008. He was surrendered to a local municipal shelter and one of our NBCR volunteers rescued him from being put-to-sleep due to overcrowding.
Understandably, Johnny was very scared at the shelter, but after a few days in a foster home with some TLC he was a new cat. He is such a love ball and will crawl all over you to get petted. He purrs so sweetly when you rub his ears, and he enjoys tummy rubs so much he will flip over so you get the hint when he wants one.
Johnny goes crazy for catnip. When you put it on his cardboard scratcher he will drool over it and starts to act playful and silly. He has very good manners and does not jump up on tables or cabinets.
He is an extremely unique, loving, and handsome cat.

Facing financial woes, Dallas County's Humane Society shelter turns away animals
01:07 PM CST on Thursday, November 6, 2008
By DAN X. McGRAW / The Dallas Morning News
dmcgraw@dallasnews.comThe Humane Society of Dallas County's shelter has stopped accepting surrendered animals for the first time in its 30-year history because of financial problems.
The no-kill shelter, Dog and Kitty City, is facing a double whammy: Donations have fallen roughly 75 percent since last year and adoptions have dropped 25 percent as fewer people are willing to take on the extra cost of caring for a new pet.
The shelter, near Love Field, is about $2,000 short of meeting its monthly budget of $12,000 for November, leaving it financially unable to spay and neuter cats, said Sandra Mustafa, the shelter's director. The shelter currently has about 300 cats and 20 dogs.
"We live on donations, but right now, they aren't coming in," Ms. Mustafa said.

Name: Adam
Gender: Male, neutered
Size: 8 lbs
DOB: 2007
Breed: Chihuahua / Papillon Mix
Color: White and Black
Adam was pulled from a local pound because he was heartworm positive, and could not be adopted. He has successfully completed his treatment, and is now ready for a forever home.
Adam is a sweet little dog who enjoys car rides, being with his people, and the company of other dogs. He can be a little timid at first, and even a little hand shy, and he isn’t wild about being picked up, but once you start to pet him, he quickly calms down and enjoys the attention. Adam prefers women over men, but he will get along with men if they are patient with his shyness.
He is housetrained, but does not like to be crated. He does fine being kept behind a baby gate during the day, as long as he has other dogs to keep him company. He is vaccinated and microchipped.

Name: Jubilee
Gender: Female, spayed
Size: Medium
DOB: 2008
Breed: Plott Hound Mix
Color: Brown brindled
Please meet Jubilee, a beautiful 9-month-old Plott Hound/Lab mix rescued from a local animal shelter where she came in as a stray. Jubilee means celebration and that is truly what symbolizes this sweet girl. She celebrates every day now that her life has been saved and she is beginning to understand love in her foster home. Jubilee weighs 40 lbs and is a beauty. She is extremely smart, and she learned how to sit almost immediately. She has completely mastered the doggie door. She's learning other basic commands and is learning "doggie manners" from her foster siblings with whom she loves to play. Jubilee would do best in a home with other dogs, as she loves to play.

Name: Audi
Gender: Female, spayed
Size: Medium
DOB: 2006
Breed: Boxer
Color: Brown & White
Audi is the sweetest little girl ever. She was found on a playground, extremely thin and heartworm positive. Now that she’s better, she’s ready for her forever home.
Audi loves other dogs, and gets very excited when she meets them. She loves to play with them, but doesn’t like it when they take her bones or toys. She’ll need a home with another dog companion where she can be left uncrated and free to move about the house when her people are away. A doggy door would be great as well.
She also does great with cats and children.

Name: Sage
Gender: Female, spayed
Size: Small
DOB: May 2007
Breed: Tabby
Color: Grey & White
Sage is a wonderfully sweet and loving kitty. She was rescued as a tiny kitten in Wills Point, TX. She is currently living in a foster home with other cats, but unfortunately, she is still very lonely. Sage was born with feline leukemia, and must be kept separated from the other cats. Right now, she has no playmates.
Many cats can live with FeLV for many, many years with no problems. However, we are hoping to find an experience cat owner who currently has no other cats or has only FeLV+ cats in the home. Sage is very social and needs companionship. Please consider this special needs kitty for your home.

Name: Chloe
Gender: Female, spayed
Size: 40 – 50 lbs full grown
DOB: May 2008
Breed: Lab mix
Color: Black & White
Chloe is simply a little angel. She's extremely friendly and good-natured, and she just wants to be loved.
Chloe and her brothers and sisters were rescued from a very neglectful situation, but now they've flourished with lots of love and room to play. Chloe deserves a forever home of her own where she'll enjoy being a part of the family, even if it's just sitting at your feet or watching TV with you (something she actually loves to do). She's certainly going to make some lucky person or family extremely happy and reward them with countless years of true love, companionship, and loyalty!

Name: Piccolo
Gender: Male, neutered
Size: Small
DOB: 2006
Breed: Terrier Mix
Color: White & Black
Piccolo is a funny boy! He's a small guy, about 12 pounds and he looks like a wire-haired Boston Terrier! He's got an even temperament and is easy going.
Piccolo enjoys going on walks and exploring outside. He has a great attitude when meeting other dogs both those bigger and smaller than he. Piccolo is one of those dogs that when you pet him, he just can't keep his tail from wagging. He loves attention. But, he has a mellow side too and will come put his head on your foot after a nice walk. He's adorable, friendly, and fun, what more could you ask for?

Name: Ziggy
Gender: Male, Neutered
Size: Medium
DOB: 2000
Breed: Bearded Collie Mix
Color: White & Grey
Ziggy was rescued in terrible condition: neglected, matted, and heartworm positive. He had to be completely shaved, and immediately started HW treatment. Now, happy and healthy, Ziggy is ready for his forever home.
Ziggy loves running, playing, and going for short walks. He is also very affectionate, and he deserves to finally have a home where someone loves him. He might be ideal for someone who is retired, as long as they are prepared to maintain his coat (since Bearded Collies grow very long coats). He is also housetrained, but he must be the only pet – he doesn’t want to share you with anyone. He is also on a glucosamine supplement for his joints.
