I made a big pot of homemade chicken noodle soup, and pan of cornbread, today, and sat at the table remembering long ago.
The cold snowy evenings, walking into the house after playing in the snow, making snow forts and igloos, and iced  snowballs. (great for slamming at your brothers)
The aromas of soup and cornbread or homemade bread, swirled round the room, and warmed you from Your toes to Your nose.!
I miss those times, with my mom and grandparents, brothers, and sometimes a few cousins slipping by. I always smile though, because it warms the heart, and takes away, the blues of the day, the sadness of the news, and the sometimes the cross words, I hear and read.
Smile, and think of all the goodness in the world.

Babysis, I think we're about the same age...and I, too, remember these types of good times.

I still miss them, as well.

My Lord! I'm right there in your KITCHEN!!! The visual you just gave me makes everything all better!

Hot, sweet cornbread and soup on a icy cold day?

OMG!!!

I have a feeling you could cook a meal for me any day!

I know what you mean about missing those times with your grandparents. God, I miss mine.

Hi Babysister--I'm Steve's wife:) Your blog gave me warm fuzzies! I love making homemade meals. I like trying new recipes as well as long loved favorites taught to me by my mom or others. One thing I like to cook on really cold days is a recipe Steve's mom gave me for chili. It's not Texas hot---but we all love it with Fritos:)

Take care

"...and I think to myself, what a wonderful world."

MMMMMMM I can smell it now. There's nothing like comfort food on a really cold day!

Yum Yum That sounds sooo good! I love chicken soup and cornbread. Oh and that fudge you mentioned, it doesn't get any better than that.
