A pregnancy boom at Gloucester High School in Massachusetts is shocking many, and it's not necessarily because teens didn't have access to birth control.

According to officials at the school, seventeen girls made a pact together to get pregnant at the same time and raise their kids together.

School principal Joseph Sullivan told Time Magazine, who first broke the story, that he started noticing something suspicious when the pregnancy rate had rose more than four times the school's average. He also observed more girls visiting the school clinic to get pregnancy tests.

This just so infuriates me!

Seems to get pregnant is a wonderful thing with young girls. The movie "Juno" says it is ok.  All the pregnant, unmarried "so called Stars"

Where are these girls parents? None of these girls are over 16.

Why are girls alowed to go to regular school when pregnant? Why aren't thy sent to an alternative school? Apparently up there the girls get to go to school and have day care! Provided by the Taxpayers  of course.

The fathers are said to be in their 20's  are they going to be made to pay for all the expenses? Hospital bills. chil support?

What are they thinking?

That's just it, they're not thinking.

They do this and we pay for it? How about the daddies and the parents of the girls paying for all that?

They give pregnancy test in school now?

Access to birth control is aways available... it's called "NO" and if you're temporarily out, use "moral standards".

These girls are obviously idiots.
You're right - where are the parents, what have they been teaching these immoral idiots?
Going to school pregnant or with everyone knowing you whoring yourself out for a boyfriend, doesn't seem to be a big deal anymore.
NO MORAL STANDARDS... just look at Hollywood who rarely bothers with anything as mundane as 'marriage'.

The mayor of Gloucester finds it acceptable to provide pregnancy tests but not birth control.

At some point, we have to stop being naive and saying ABSTINENCE IS THE ONLY WAY and realize it doesn't work and provide these teenagers with birth control. Birth control does not make people sexually promiscuous. LOL

It wouldn't have worked in this case though, since their whole point was to get pregnant.

I agree Chard, what the he** is wrong with these parents? And it really ticks me off that these crazy girls will be escorted through the whole thing! Like free daycare, of course the mothers of these girls will pick up the slack when they just don't feel like playing mamma anymore. What happened to responsibility for your own actions? UGH! This is sickening. I'm 22, married and expecting our first child in september. I'm done with the party phase, stupid phase, and ready to start a family. And I'm not expecting any help from anyone! He** Im not even having a baby shower!

Even if the school or parents provide birth control to teens, the teens won't take them if they are trying to get pregnant, DUH!!!

Teenagers are emotional beings that do not think. When I was working in EMS, I had an ambulance partner that teased me about acting like a drill sergeant. He didn't realize that I had to get my EMT and Paramedic friends to spy on my kids when they had a break. (it's a long story)
I was a single mom for 11 years and had to work to support my girls. I couldn't watch them every minute.
I know how difficult it is to keep kids out of trouble, therefore I will not judge the parents.
