Has anyone seen the new idea for paying for the Trinity Rail system?

Some legislatures have spoken out, about paying for the system, by doubling the fee for registering Your car/truck.

most pay 50 to 60 dollars per vehicle(approx) if this is passed you will pay twice the amount, for a rail system that is for the Northern portions of the Metroplex.

How many of You will ever use this system? I seldon drive up that way let alone will ride a train.

and I bet that if this stupid idea passes, every single penny will go directly to the Trinty Rail - right.

Not only do not go to the Northern part of the Metroplex, I doubt that could get it built in my lifetime that I would see it.

Texas does have about the cheapest rate for car/truck registration. I was shocked when I found out Ca use to (and probably still does) charge by the age of the car.

NORTHTX, Yes, CA is still the leader in fees. Texas might overtake CA, if what I see holds true...

And there is no such thing as taxes for a specific project. Dem folks are blowin' smoke...

The last time my wife and I rode the Trinity Rail was on our anniversary. We went to Ft. Worth from Irving and took a cab to a nice resturante. When we got back to Irving and our car, We had been burgeled (?) Someone broke into our Blazer and stole the stereo, CB radio, radar detector, and rifeled through everything. Irving PD said that we needed to come down to the station to fill out a report, that they would not sned an officer to where we were at, which was 3/4 of mile from the Police Department. NOW THATS A CROCK!
We contacted DART, which operates the rail station, and got nowhere.
Therefore we will never again utilize DART or the Rail. AND ANOTHER THING...We use to live about a 1/2 mile from the train tracks and the Trinity train had the loudest, god-forsaken, most irratitating horn with a person operating the train that didnt know how to relaese the horn cord! That SOB would lay on that horn from Beltline and stay on it past Story.
I am so glad we moved! No more train horns!

I am totally against this proposal.

I have 5 cars and never use the TRE.

It makes me curious why they are taking this action. I have predicted that since Arlington is the largest city in the nation without mass transit options and because Jerry's Dome is going to require some sort of access beyond cars and trucks that there would be a move to latch onto funds from outside of Arlington to pay for such things. I don't know if this is part of the same move, but I do anticipate that as the first Super Bowl in Jerry's Dome gets closer, he and his minions will try to use guilt to manipulate funding from DART or The T or a combination of the two. This ticks me off since my area has only now gotten the rail lines we were promised by 2003. I am going to be watching this issue and see what the expansion plans are. I betcha Arlington is on there......

You're probably correct, Tru. I just don't want to pay for it, dangit!

Is it just me, or does it seem a little ironic to pay more for a vehicle registration that we DRIVE EVERY DAY in order build a train that NO ONE that drives ever uses!!!
