I understand that people have pride in where they or their families came from. But for most, this pride is secondary to the pride they feel for being an American.I don't understand the "in your face" tactics by Mexicans in this country. Many of them try to provoke fights and arguments. What good does angering those on the other side of your issues really accomplish?

Here is a video of one vet that had enough of those tactics. Take note of the Mexicans that were offended. I guess they didn't love "their" flag enough to stop him from throwing it on the ground.

I really hope this post doesn't come off as racist. I just don't understand why many come here to better their lives and then do whatever they can to disrespect this country.

Here's the deal. I was raised to treat people decently. We didn't use derogatory names or go out of our way to offend them. But it seems that it's not a two way street. I have had in your face confrontations with various types of people based over little more than saying thank you for holding a door or some such minor issue. The bottom line is that for too long certain activists have been seeking incidents to exploit and now I guess what goes around is finally coming around.

The video was from October 2007. My point with this post was to demonstrate how "in your face" some are becoming. They poke and prod until they finally get a fight.

I hear ya cb. Anyone that comes in our country and disrespect like that then they need to go back to their pathetic excuse of a country and fly their pathetic excuse of a flag. I'm surprice that there was not a law officer that came and made them take it down. What those mexicans did they were committing a felony. It is also a act of war.

Hi, cbfan!

I agree...

This is not a racist post...at all. It is VERY disrespectful to fly the Mexican flag above the American flag. I don't blame that veteran for reacting the way he did.

I don't think the other two men said anything because, deep down inside, they know that it was disrespectful and wrong. They were standing on American soil, not Mexico. What could they say? What could possibly be an adequate response to disrespecting a country in which they were standing in front of their store (?) on Her soil, making money? You know?

Hi Onyx, good to see you.

I was also proud of the veteran because he wasn't in their face and cussing; he just went in, took care of business, and left.

Right...

He didn't confront them, personally. He just took back The Flag's Honor...made it clear that he will fight for its honor...and left.

There are a lot of Americans who would not have been as...what's the word I'm looking for...subdued? I have great respect for our veterans and our country. Like I've said before, She (America) has her problems, but She is still a Great Nation and Her flag should be honored and respected.

You dang right. I would have done the same thing. I'm not going to walk by let some pathetic want an be's do that to our flag. The flag that I fought for and defended against them scums bags out there that wish to do harm. That shop owner how dare they come in this country and pull that ^^%&$%# here and think that they get away with it. If they like that flag that much then go back to their backyard pathetic trash of a poor excuse of a country

They come to our country because they want a better life. They didn't like what they had in their country. Someone please tell me why they try so hard to bring it with them?

Great post CB. Had not seen this before, good for that veteran, we should all be as proud of the flag and our country.

CB, just figured I'd act the way I recall certain Latino activists have in the past when confronted with reality.

This was indeed a very patriotic post, and it serves to remind me of the major dichotomy illegal immigrants from Mexico have:

On the one hand, they came to this country for a better life. On the other, revelling in their native country does not fit with the reality that their country cannot (or more precisely will not) support them.

What are the reasons for this inability to support them? Many, but the focus is instead on our country and our supposed lack of compassion for accepting those who do not act as if they want acceptance...

Comport yourself with respect, and respect becomes mutual. Doing the opposite results in what we have now. LULAC and other activist groups would do well to learn this, but it is difficult to put the toothpaste back in the tube...
