Well, not MY last dollar that I have, but the last dollar I am willing to give you. Work was nice enough to provide me with 2 tickets to tonights game. I have not seen a game in several years but my wife had never been to one. Since this is the last preseason game ever at texas stadium, I figured I should take her. I know parking is a mess out there, and I expect that. What I did not expect to see a sign that said

PARKING

$30

Holy Smokes! I thought it was a misprint, like should have been $3.00 or something. But nope, green parking pass $30.00! Between that, one soda, and two hot dogs, and gas we probably spent close to $60.00! tonight and the tickets were free!

Why doesn't anyone seem to carry insurance any longer? I can't understand having the government bail out people when it should be the duty of the insurance companies.

A) Texas Governor's Mansion (below)

B) New Orleans Louisiana Superdome

Well the economy is not just effecting us humans, its also effecting our 'best friends'. Thats right, our pets. I spoke with Jeff O. at the Rowlett Animal Shelter on Friday. He stated that the number of pets being turned in was higher month over month compared to last year. People loosing jobs, high price of gas, it looks like people are having to choose between feeding their pets and feeding their families.

I ended up going to petco on Saturday and almost had a heart attack. I buy Neutro pet food for my 2 German Shepherds. One 40lb bag usually runs about $29-$34 depending if it is on sale. I went to check out, $41.00! I was asking about it, and it was related to the diesel gas prices. I decided now would be a good time to maybe switch brands to something a little less expensive. I went to WalMart where a 40lb bag of IAMS was over $30.00!

Guess the bulky heavy items are soaring in prices, starting with Pet Food.

I have a tendancy to forget my camera every time I see something I want to photograph. Fortunately, I had it with me around 6am yesterday when I took the following photo.

Well little Abbey turned 7 weeks old yesterday. (I always thought it was silly keeping track of the weeks on a little one, but I am doing it too). She has been doing great so far. Some mile stones she has reached.

4 weeks - rolling from belly to back
6 weeks - seems to be smiling some, recognizing our voices and 'talking' to us.
6.5 weeks - slept thru the night - 11pm  to 6am (wife woke her up b/c she HAD to feed her, as she was in a little bit of discomfort)
7 weeks - she started fake caughing as she has learned to make a new sound. (almost like a clearning throat sound)

She appears to almost be able to roll from her back to her side now, I am guessing within the next week she will do that. She is at least 8 lbs now, my wife thinks she will be closer to 9 lbs here in the next few days. I tried to measure here, and she seems a solid 22" long.

This report came up earlier on the internet showing that 1 out of 3 admins views some data that they should not be viewing.

I would like to point out that yall need to seriously go do some research before spouting off reports like this. I can see we are probably going to have our hands full of people asking about it tomorrow.

First of all, they interviewed 300 Senior IT professionals. PLEASE LOOK AT WHO DID THE SURVEY. Cyber-Ark - An information Security Company whos products are sold to help with password management, sensitive information management, and audit and compliance. It was in their best interest to have a survey that says 30% of IT admins snoop around.

They do not even mention if this was sampled at the same company, different companies. Where the samples came from, or anything else for that matter. The fact that they mention that Admin passwords change less frequently than other user passwords, while it could be correct, does absolutly NOTHING to back up the fact that 30% of the admins snoop.

By DEFINITION, a Senior Admin HAS the Admin password. Not having the password forgoes their ability to do their job. (examples below). An administrator is the only account that has access to everything because, if not. Any/All data could accidentally be locked out and never found again.

Examples from over the last 10 years.
Example :
User comes up to me and says they no one can gain access to a folder, he says he has no problems, but no one else can access it. If an administrator account could not give permissions or take permissions where they don't have them. Then only that user could restore access to that folder. We restored user access to the folder, and removed the rights for the users to change the folder permissions.

Example :
I have been doing a search across a file system to search for different types of files. Such as large files which are taking up lots of space. Without having access to those files I would not be able to manage the server space. In addition without access to read/write those files, backups would not be able to be performed on those files.

Example :
During one of the searches for large files, I ran across some movies. While not bad, they certainly were not work related, and could be considered a little risque. I then looked thru the users folders to make sure they were not violating any company policies. One particular users websurving had been taking him to adult (*quickies*one night stants*) dating website. I reported this to my supervisor who in turn reported it to theirs.

Example :
We had some reports from users that email was not being delivered correctly. We went into email boxes to do some test messages, and read the headers to see if they were working correctly. We can't help it if the subject of an email in your inbox was 'Guess who I had sex with at work last night?' Not that that was an actual email, but you don't necessaraly have to read the email to know something might be going on.

Example :
We had a report of an outsourced webservice not responding correctly, users reported extreemly slow response. It appeared that our internet connection was being used to the max. Unfortunately our network equipment does not directly show WHO was using all the bandwidth. So we initiated a packet capture (collecting the data that goes in and out to the internet). We sorted it by user and destination, and percent of traffic. The number 1 user was another service we had that was outsourced that was sending data out as fast as it could flooding our connection. But looking at some of the other data collected over the 60 seconds or so we captured the data. It was obvious that 3 other people were visiting job sites, and one was doing some online shopping on amazon.

I guess I could consider that snooping, but certainly not because I am trying to snoop it is because I am trying to do my job. Just like a police officer that spots a suspicious person might hide in the dark watching the person to see what they might/might not do. That could be considered 'snooping', but when the person he is watching is an escapee, it does not really matter the steps he is taking to do his job. Your safety is more important.

Also companies might have mandatory random checks to see if Classified Information is leaking out of the company by way of email, copied files to thumb drives. This causes Admins to go and look.

This is in regards to the Mom of the 9 year old kid that had his PS3 stolen. Now that I am a parent, I guess I can critique other parents parenting.

She should have the book thrown at her for letting her 9 year old play grand theft auto on his PS3. I know the newest Grand Theft Auto 4, just came out last week, and I purchased a copy for myself. I am 30 years old. The game is rated Mature, and you must be 17 or older to buy the game. Similar to a R rated movie. I have issues with parents that let their children watch R rated movies, or play 'R rated' games. This game is for adults as it contains mature subject matter. Not all video games are made for kids, this one is made for big kids (adults).

The mom should really get a clue!

Well my wife has been up every 3 hours to try breast feeding, making some progress. Abbey's platelet count went up after two transfusions on Thursday. I think it is still up (I am a little groggy from sleeping on the hospital 'couch' and waking up every 2-3hrs). But it looks like she might get to go home with us on Monday. We are extatic.

Well I have not posted for a while, but my wife had some issues early on that I posted about in the blog. Well Abigail was born today 7lbs 19" by c-section. About 9 days early. We had a scheduled C-Section for Tuesday the 6th, but Abbey (don't ask me, my wife choose the spelling - she liked -ey) had other plans. Water broke this morning at about 3am. I had been asleep for all about an hour.

So we go to the hospital, they do a c-section at 7am. She is born at 7:27am. While the water broke, abbey pooped in the fluid (I forget the technical term) which did not help. She was doing ok, then got all these little red spots all over her. They got the O2 level up, the heart beating good, and breathing good. Got her warmed up. But the platelet count was at almost 25% of where it should have been. (Very low). So she got a trip over to the NICU.

I was fortunate enough to hold her after she was born, and my wife was able to hold her when they stopped by the room taking her to NICU.

I went and visited her for about an hour and a half in the NICU. She was doing well and eating. Then I got a call that her platelets had dropped again, and now she would need blood (platelets), so back down to NICU I went to sign the necessary paperwork.

other than that she seems to be doing fine and eating, and responsive.  Just thought I would update everyone. Looks like Abbey can't be easy even AFTER being born.

Chris.

It turns out that this guy has been identified.

not only that, his sister wrote about them while they were in Hawaii scaring the daylight out of some poor pizza delivery driver. This guy needs to be locked up.

The Marines may be all about work but they have fun as well. A graduate from MHS joined the Marines right out of high school. They were stationed in Hawaii doing missions up in the mountains when they got hungry. They came out of the woods and found a house and took down the address to call a pizza place. The delivery man didn’t want to come all the way up there because it was really far. Finally they convinced him to. The Marines waited in the trees and bushes until the pizza man came. When the delivery man pulled up, all the Marines jumped out of the bushes with their face paint on and their guns. The pizza man was too scared to get out of the car! They gave him an extra tip for going through the hassle to go that far. So after, they hopped back in the bushes and ate their pizza!

Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSegana Diop, Devean George and Maurice Ager for Jason Kidd &  Malik Allen and possibly Antoine Wright?

What are you thinking? All the players they are trading work so well as a team, look like they are having fun. And what do you get in return, two maybe 3 players? Jason Kidd is over rated, old, and moldy (hence the smell ya later). I can understand trading one or two good players every once in a while, but guess what? Why did they get rid of Steve Nash? Looks like they need to be not drooling over 'super stars' and put their team together. Never liked Kidd & his attitude. Although I like Dirk, I think he will be the next to go. Time to tune out of Mavs and find something productive to do.

I sure am upset that Fox 4 is passing off peoples judgments in Oak Cliff as fact about getting their light rail projects done ahead of other cities. I am not sure about Irving. But Rowlett has been part of Dart for 20-25 years if I recall. One of the first cities to jump on the bandwagon. From my understanding Rowlett has only 2 bus routes. When I tried to go to addison on the bus it was an hour and a half ordeal that started at 6:00am to get to work by 8am. I don't know how much has been paid in by rowlett, but it is somewhere  between 20 and 100 million I think. Anyway, why not do a story on the ONLY founding city that has yet to recieve Rail service?

I read this today
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-cellsuit_

I guess the guy found a loophole and wants them to follow their own rules they set.

I understand all the reasons for saying talking on a cell phone is worse than driving drunk.

If that is the case.

1) It should have a stiffer pentaly than driving drunk
2) Carrying on a conversation with someone in your car should be considered the same as talking on the phone (I have seen loads of people who look at the person they are talking to instead of watching the road).
3) Transporting childeren should be also considered the same thing. Have you seen a parent trying to control their child while driving down the road?

So, why is it that you don't get arrested for driving while talking? Because it is NOT worse than driving drunk, I am guessing some people just can't multi task. Those are the same people who would probably fail the other examples I gave too.

I personally don't know why government is poking their heads into my business. If I want to talk on the phone, talk to my passenger, do what ever, then let me. If I get in a wreck while doing one of these things, then give me a ticket / arrest me. I have never heard of a woman getting pulled over for putting her makeup on while driving down the road, no heard of a guy for trying to shave while driving down the road.

You are telling me, talking while looking forward out the front window of the car, with or without hands free is more dangerous than some chick putting her makeup on, or some dude eating a hamburger while driving w/ his knees? How about smoking? Or drinking a soda? All distractions.
