The news has been reporting today about Sen. Obama wanting to provide some 500 million to Faith Based Organizations to help with social services.

He seems to truly be reaching out to people of faith - showing what an informed and reasonable person he is.

Thing is, if you look at the addendum to his policy proposal, it is hard to think that even the most open minded person of faith would want it.

His proposal would make it illegal at any organization taking federal funds, to discriminate in any way, in who they hire or what services they offer.

Meaning that a Christian organization could not turn down a radical muslim or atheist applicant, if they were otherwise qualified for a job. If they offered counseling to pregnant women and teens, they would by law have to also offer counseling on abortion alternatives.

I guess there are some who just look at the headline and say what a great guy he is. Look under the hood, and as with so many of his proposals, they would spell disaster if ever implemented.

I was not sure whether to put this under politics or faith. I think if you plan on voting for Obama you had best have lots of faith. It may be all that you are left with after he is done.

The Lefty-blogosphere has erupted over this. Funny, Obama tries to court a constituency and the purists demand his head. Where have I seen this before? Hmmm...

Look no further than his own 'faith' and the church he has attended for the past twenty years to see what he truly believes..

Yup - I just can't fathom how anyone can really believe that he is a "new kind of politician".

I think only the Socialist/Independent Bernie Sanders could be any further left than the good Sen. Obama.

In his zest to court different groups, He is making a total mockery of truth and wisdom, and common sense, and it's probably gonna get worse, it just shows he has no personal convictions and changes for political expediency , not from reason !

Excellent post TTB!

And that is how the shakedown of the system works.

And as soon as one organization takes, the rest will and they will be further in the pockets of Congress.

Remember, Hitler and all other dictators needed the approval, tacit or otherwise of the religious order at the time.

NO EXCEPTIONS

Quite frankly I don't think ones faith should be used to discriminate in hiring anyone.

I can't wait to hear the neo-con nut cases go rabid when faith based $ (which they supported under dubya) gets distributed to faith based groups that Sharpton supports - LOL

Hmmm Obama wants to put controls ruining faith-based initiatives that are working fine (read the studies) under Dubya and we're supposed to be like "well gaw-lee! That Obamer sho knows his gawd learnin'!" Hell no.

How will Obama expand? Higher taxes? He's voted for a tax increase on average every FIVE DAYS since he's been a senator.

Let us churchies keep our money and serve the community with it - quit letting the government ruin everything.

that must make me a rabid neo-con nut case.

TI, you nutcase you (LOL!)

Back to my original comment, dfwGuy looks like his hackles are raised. Good, let him see Obama as, um - well, Obama...

dfwguy, if you get enough delegates to switch, Hillary is still receptive to saving your Party...

Obama supporters seem to be blinded by him for some reason. I mean I can see the bad in John McCain but if you say ANYTHING bad about Obama, so help you, you will be degraded!

He is so obviously anti God / anti Christian. How come no one seems to see it? I guess perhaps everyone else has become that way too. Lord help us.

the scoffers will continue to scoff until the end of time, grace. they will give up all their freedoms willingly for 'change' and 'equality'.

Be very wary of the attention he's giving to faith based initiatives because that is obvious pandering to the more conservative folks on both sides of the aisle. And by the way, did you know he helped the loony priest that ragged on Hillary a $300,000 grant? When he talks, remember that the African American churches are a strong support system of the political goals of the Democrat party. I am sure they will be the recipients of a good share of this.

There is no problem with the climate that cutting the human population in half would not solve.
