Ive always been so interested in what the radar looked like on that devastating day, that left Downtown Ft Worth in shock as the tornado ripped thru, well now thanks to some cool software called GRLevel2Analyst and archived weather data from NOAA,i actually now can play it out, frame by frame on radar and in volumetric imaging or 3D radar in simple terms lol. So here are some high resolution pictures of what the radar looked like 8 years ago.
This first image is the storm over in Mineral Wells, notice the hook shape its taking to the northeast of the city.

HookAt5PM.jpgThis second image is a nice look at the monster hail core just before the storm started to rotate into a tornado, although alot of mid level rotation was taking place.

SuperHailCore555.jpgThis Third Image is a look at the hailcore in volimetric imaging, note the core (black) was about 40000 KFT ,which is very high in the upper atmosphere.

kfws_20000328_2355.jpgAt 6:20 PM a TVS signature (red triangle) is shown in the storm indicating alot of low level rotation and the hook shape as well.

RedTVS620.jpgUsing a radar product called Spectrium Width,we see the funnel shape on the ground. What this is actually for,I should ask a meteorologist.

kfws_20000329_0020.jpgAnd a final image showing the Storm Reletive Velocity, which pretty much tracks, what moving away from the radar and whats moving tword the radar, note the red and green colors, usally when there in a spiral like they are shown here, its a good indication of mid and low level rotation.

tormVelocity620.jpgSo yea,i thought i would share all this data to those that are like me and love to see things and explore the weather using great imaging tools, hopefully one of the FOX 4 Meteorologists will see these and be impressed,so everyone enjoy and have a happy and safe 4th of July.
