Ive always been so interested in what the radar looked like on that devastating day, that left Downtown Ft Worth in shock as the tornado ripped thru, well now thanks to some cool software called GRLevel2Analyst and archived weather data from NOAA,i actually now can play it out, frame by frame on radar and in volumetric imaging or 3D radar in simple terms lol. So here are some high resolution pictures of what the radar looked like 8 years ago.

This first image is the storm over in Mineral Wells, notice the hook shape its taking to the northeast of the city.

This second image is a nice look at the monster hail core just before the storm started to rotate into a tornado, although alot of mid level rotation was taking place.

This Third Image is a look at the hailcore in volimetric imaging, note the core (black) was about 40000 KFT ,which is very high in the upper atmosphere.

At 6:20 PM a TVS signature (red triangle) is shown in the storm indicating alot of low level rotation and the hook shape as well.

Using a radar product called Spectrium Width,we see the funnel shape on the ground. What this is actually for,I should ask a meteorologist.

And a final image showing the Storm Reletive Velocity, which pretty much tracks, what moving away from the radar and whats moving tword the radar, note the red and green colors, usally when there in a spiral like they are shown here, its a good indication of mid and low level rotation.

So yea,i thought i would share all this data to those that are like me and love to see things and explore the weather using great imaging tools, hopefully one of the FOX 4 Meteorologists will see these and be impressed,so everyone enjoy and have a happy and safe 4th of July.

We all herd about the many tornadoes that touched down in Oklahoma,Arkansas,Alabama and Georgia. Well i was up at 1AM looking at Level3 radar, and wow,ive never seen so many mesocyclones on one storm since i got the programs,so i thought i share what i saw. It will be in my 4 Warn Weather Album which is here once admin approves it. http://community.myfoxdfw.com/photos/ShowPhoto.aspx?ai

I really need to get the money to get GRLevel2 Analyst Edition so i can actually see volumetric imaging and Level 2 data from the storms. Hope everyone has a great week, knux out.

As the storms marched across North Texas, some great volumetric imaging showed some great hailcore tops. Also when the rain was coming down at 3 inches + per hour my camera took a nice still picture showing the many rain drops that were flooding the area with the winds. Hope everyone enjoys the pictures

Well, thanks to the help of Level II radar data and Volumetric i furthered my interest in the storms in Arkansas yesterday night. Interesting enough I was studding the storm using Relative Velocity, A Level 2 Radar layer called NROT that shows rotation within the storm and of course regular up to the minute live radar sweeps from KLZK National Weather Service Doppler Radar. Just about a minute before a Tornado Warning was issued for the Benton and Little Rock areas,i saw something strange on the Volumetric 3D display and sure enough it was the Tornado that ripped thought the area last night. I have 3 pictures to show what I had saw before the warning was issued and they are in my 4 Warn Weather Album once Fox 4 Admins approve them. The first one shows Volumetric imaging showing a Tornado forming in front of the storms Radar data. The two other images show the upper, mid and lower level rotations estimated by Doppler Radar, green being a better rotation and yellow being a significant rotation. I thought i was pretty cool to see a tornado right before the national weather service issued a warning and im glad for the money i payed to get a program to show all this incredible weather data,it helps a rookie meteorologist understand the weather abit more clearly.  Hope yall enjoy it and have a great weekend.

A few storms popped up across North Texas Today dropping rain in the warm Texas heat. Just about an hour ago it was sunny with rain still falling from the clouds, then a rare treat came about,a rainbow in the half rain, half sun atmosphere, what a great sunset it was, I did take some pictures of the rain and the rainbow,as soon as Fox 4 admins approve them, their in the 4 Warn Weather Album in my photos. Plus some old KDFW 1980 Pictures,Showing Good Oh Chip Moody in the Fox 4 Photos Album. And with this link to a rare no voice opening of KDFW 1980 uploaded to Youtube by me,Enjoy this Thursday ^^.

Ok so im browsing around some maps on Weatherunderground and i see that Eastland county is under a thunderstorm warning, yet theres no thunderstorm under it,so i loop the radar and theres still no thunderstorm under it. Must be a data error cause the NWS said this:

Statement as of 8:07 AM CDT on June 03, 2007

... The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Eastland County is
cancelled...

Yet it still shows it on the Nexrad Radar, and the Sadlight........wow....lol.....ive included pics to show you what i mean,a loop of the radar and two images showing the error. Just click the 4 Warn Weather Album.

As the squall line passed thru Midlothian Texas a loud crack destroyed my neighbors old cotton wood tree, winds were about 79 MPH or more according to the last reading i had on Google Earth Weather Tools.Ive included pics of the tree down. Just look in the 4 Warn Weather Album.
