Don't know if it is just me but I just cannot get a package open without my "survival tools"...I was trying to open an eye pencil and I got SO frustrated just trying to cut the plastic ...then the directions on most items are so small that even with my bifocal eyeglasses they are unreadable..out comes my "cheater" and better if this magnifier has a smaller magnifier on it..I have a whole passel of these magnifiers placed in my various rooms....What I've discovered is that ordinary scissors are not quite strong enough for todays packaging.....thus the Leatherman and Swiss knife with their many blades...now I am not real proficient with these either so when I have finally gotten the pkg open ..I am busy trying to stem the bleeding from the cut and then   try to  open a band-aid...and without "contaminating" it get it secured on the injury ...I usually end up with the bandaid stuck to itself and then adding another bandaid to hold the first one in place..I just don't remember this being so difficult....

My daughter and I were discussing this whole episode with the police officer that was killed in the motorcade...she had a good question or solution....When you have a high profile motorcade such as this.....is it feasible for an ambulance to be part of the detail?  Although it sounded as if this officer was killed instantly...is this something that is workable for the future?  It makes sense to me but there might be logistics I don't understand.

I read a story online about an unmarried teacher, age 23, who had been teaching 5th graders for about a year in a Catholic school in Minnesota and she got pregnant and now she has been fired...unjustly she says....article didn't mention any contract issues ..she says she should be able to keep her job because it would show compassion and forgiveness...just wondering what the thoughts were in the blogging world?   Given all the controversies in the Catholic church....in re to the  abuses and coverups......

I could not believe what I was reading...that so called "mom" did it again.....while she napped...that little girl got out again...and it doesn't sound like they removed this child from this woman!!! Next time it may have a different tragic ending and then there will be fundraisers to help the family and then the lawsuits will follow.....someone please step up and make this woman answer for her misdeeds....I'll bet she is on every give away there is and what is she doing....NAPPING!!!!  She needs to get a job because that baby will be better off on day care. 

A two year old found wondering in an intersection and she had been there for awhile...Where was that mom??? The mom strolled to the scene and scooped up her kid and left...why wasn't she frantic ....hurrying...frightened...now the question is if she should be charged?   Yes!!! How does a 2 year old manage to get that far away for so long unnoticed? Where was that mom and what was she doing???? She wasn't minding her kid ...that's for sure

I was watching the news last night on a different channel...not 4.....there was a story about a Katrina family...3 adults who were griping about having to move ...They had been living FREE for 18 months in a beautiful house in Plano...now they had the option of purchasing the house with $15,000 from Fannie May  or moving on...the house was priced at $189,000..and they were complaing that it was too expensive and the price should be lowered for them..P...l...e...a...s...e.......they have had 18 months of living there FREE to  work and save  ...3 adults...they had an exotic bird (probably expensive) and the young adult had several musical instruments..I was appalled at their thinking and "b....." about this ..NO ONE ever gave me a house to live in free for 18 months and if they had I'd been working my tail off in that time to put away some money..I grew up "dirt" poor but I worked and saved and went to school....no handouts either...I had no sympathy for these people only contempt for their total lack of thankfulness...gimme...gimme..gimme!!!!! Think about it...when you total up the amount they didn't pay in rent  they were probably already given another $15,00-$18,000 ..I guess I'd be griping too if someone took my gravy train away

I usually just make comments on blogs because I do not think my "blogging skills" are up to the level of the "regulars" but what I heard this morning just really got me going....I was writing this blog in my head until I could get to my computer...darn phone kept ringing...I had the TV on  channel 4 and Hillary and Barack were spatting again( I love it)..and in my half awake/asleep state I heard someone ask Barack what he thought of Toni Morrison's comment about Bill Clinton being the "first black President?"  Barack thought about it and commented that he didn't know because he'd have to see Bill dance before he could call him a brother..of course Channel 4 obliged and showed Bill and  Hillary dancing! Now , my question is ,...Are the 2 good reverns and good ole Bob Ray Sanders going to jump on this  as racist???  I think not,  but had a white made this comment there would be lawsuits..negotiations..apologies ..parades....accusations and who knows what else because this comment was made.......

My daughter is doing her student teaching in one of our metroplex middle schools...she comes home with some incredible stories...this is the latest and TEACHERS..I am in NO way blaming you!!!! The eighth grade students were asked to address a mailing to their home and this should have taken 5 minutes...twenty minutes later they had  barely finished...they either did not know their address...did not know what city they lived in nor did they know HOW to even address the envelope...These are thirteen and fourteen year olds...asking the teacher what city they lived in!!!! My daughter had to check these mailings and add stamps...again she was aghast....some of the addresses were in the postage area...I asked.."Have these kids never written a letter, a note or a thank you to a friend ...a relative or an organization that had gifted them?" She questioned this too but was told ....everyone emails now!!!! Have they never seen an addressed envelope???? The FWISD wants us to okay a bond issue in todays election and several thousand dollars are slated for cheer leading or pep squad uniforms...uhm don't think so...My daughter said it takes so much class time just to "settle" the kids that teaching time is greatly dimished...I admire anyone who dedicates their life to the career of teaching..BLESS THEM......what they have to contend with in the classroom and with so little discipline options.. I know I could not and would not want to do this...I think my daughter is  now questioning her career choice....At this time she is opting to go to grad school after graduation next month.

Was listening to the news this evening...the mother of the young boy from Garland that drowned last night is blaming his death on the rescuers...she said she is the mother of a dead child because of them...maybe I didn't hear the whole story but what was that kid doing at the rushing water and where was she?  She stated that they didn't do enough to save him and then it was reported that she was going to sue the City of Garland. As if there hasn't been any warnings or news stories about how dangerous these swollen, rushing waters can be! 

 

Has anyone read what Joe Paterno has planned for his Penn State football team? A few players got into some trouble ...think 6 were arrested but several others were involved in this fight so Joe being 80 years old and a real man of character...has come up with a most fitting punishment for all his team not just the "bad" guys...because no one showed real leadership  the team will be cleaning Beaver Stadium after every home game this fall.....the cleanup is usually done by the crew or rugby team and they are paid $5000 for this...they will still receive the money but the work will be done by the football players on Sundays after the Saturday games.they will also be required to build a House for Humanity and work at the Special olympics .....he is neither intimidated by the possibility of recruiting losses nor others opinions ...he is most concerned about doing the 'right" thing...and attempting to repair the "hoodlum" moniker his team has "earned'...Wonder what other coaches would have the $%^&%#@ to enact a punishment such as this....?

This is the first time I have blogged...I 've read many of them and also comment on some....so to all of you "pros" out there I may need your help...As I was trying to do yard work ...the wind beat me so I quit.....I got to thinking about my friends  to whom I've given gifts and NEVER received a thank-you..Maybe I've got some friends that are boors or maybe I am too senior citizen..but when I go to the effort to go out , buy a gift,,,wrap it and deliver it ..I EXPECT a thank-you.  One girl had the nerve to say that the "thank-you  she had sent me had bouned back" and she was sorry .....This sounded like an e-mail thank-you...I didn't ask..but only replied that my home address hadn't changed in years....I was brought up to believe that a gift indeed required a thank-you and maybe I am "out of touch"  I'd appreciate some feedback.....am I expecting too much????
