Tuning in to 'Gay America'

To inform voters about the position of their candidates, the Democratic National Committee has chosen to sanction one debate a month for the next six months. Their choice of venues speaks volumes about whom they believe they represent. For example, the DNC refused a debate sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus because it was to be shown on Fox News Channel. Instead, they've decided to host a debate on Logo, the self-described "channel for Gay America." The Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest homosexual lobby, is sponsoring this "first-ever televised Presidential debate devoted solely to [lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender] issues." Leading Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, and Chris Dodd have all confirmed they will participate. The panelists, which include HRC president Joe Solmonese and singer Melissa Etheridge, issued a statement saying they plan to cover a range of issues including relationship recognition, marriage equality, workplace fairness, the military, and hate crimes. HRC won't be the only group interested in hearing the candidate's responses. All of the candidates claim to oppose gay marriage, though they support same-sex civil unions that confer most of the same legal rights. It will be interesting to discover the positions they take on such topics as homosexuals serving openly in the military and providing special rights based on sexual orientation.

Why  is it that when ever someone comes up with an ideal to a problem they have to go somewhere like snopes to check it out ??? my last post was sent to me by e-mail,, Does it really matter if the story is true or not if it has a vaild point ??? people want to complain about gas prices,, immigration laws and on and on,, but when some one and I don't just mean me with the last post,, I have seen this many times on other posts,, you have to make it a point of if its true or not.. don't you realize that nothing will ever be done if action is not taken ??? In the story is was said the the buyer has the power to change things,, am I one of the few on this site to see this,, big deal about the bags,, you have to take one step at a time,, and frankly right now the most current problem is gas prices..Right now I don't even drive,, I am a stay at home mom,, and live close enough to everything I need,, so I am not concerned about driving,, but this is a problem that needs attention..

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW
WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of
his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of
the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer,
take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day"
campaign that was going around last April or May!
It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and
it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies
just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt"
ourselves by refusing to buy gas .

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can
Really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is
super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.45 for regular unleaded in my
 town.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to
think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we
need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the
 marketplace..not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need
 to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we
hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can
 do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to
 force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY
gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one),EXXON and
 MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their
prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to
 follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon
and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on
me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to
 reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least
 ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten
more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches
the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION
 consumers .
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends
each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED
 MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have
to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just
aren't a mathematician. But I am . so trust me on this one.

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to
ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people
could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest
that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE
$2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

 Keep it going

If you don't want to read the whole story at least you can e-mail your Senate and let them know what you think...

 www.Senate.gov

Big business, big labor, La Raza, internationalists, the Mexican government, and the 12 to 50 million illegal aliens who already live here win big with the passage of this new law! Who loses? The American middle class, entry-level/under-educated legal citizens/workers, our children, taxpayers, Social Security recipients (present and future), our education system, our American heritage/identity, and our "unofficial" American language: English.

Why would George W. Bush, Arlen Specter, John McCain, John Kyle, and all the Republicans who signed onto this legislation want to do this? Clearly, it appears that the proponents of the bill are completely out of touch with the vast majority of Americans. As I expressed in a recent voicemail to one of my senators -- California Senator Dianne Feinstein -- take a look at what we experience on a daily basis in San Diego County, which shares a common border with Tijuana, Mexico.

It is estimated that more than 350,000 illegal aliens live in San Diego County. The county stretches almost 90 miles from south to north and reaches east from the coast to Alpine, California. San Diego has seen its share of illegal immigration activity since the last time amnesty was granted by Congress in 1986. Unfortunately since then our leaders have not properly protected our borders or upheld the rule of law.

In the city of Escondido, located in the northeast part of the county, there has been a controversy allowing local citizens to take back their own neighborhoods. Local citizens have expressed their concern over landlords who have disregarded zoning laws when their rentals that are overloaded with tenants. Emergency rooms have been maximized. Public education needs a vast amount of money to cope with the new demographics and the anticipated millions who will come to San Diego County if this amnesty bill is enacted.

Also, Democratic state legislators have carelessly granted benefits to illegal immigrants, making it easier for them to enter California's junior college system. Some local city governments (Los Angeles, for example) have made it impossible for immigration enforcement officers to cooperate with local police by granting sanctuary status to illegal immigrants.

If the new McCain/Kennedy bill passes, I believe governmental bureaucracies will be unable to cope with its mandate, both financially and logistically. The bill requires government agents to interview and process applications for an estimated 12 to 20 million new "Z card" holders. If the bill passes in its present form, it will place a tremendous strain on local, state, and federal governments' finite resources to do so.

Why should the American taxpayer have to prop up a law-breaking population, the majority of whom come from a country with an untenable two-class system (Mexico)? The people of Mexico are divided into the super rich or the very poor. Effectively, there is no middle class. This has nothing to do with racism or discontent with our neighbor to the south, but everything to do with common sense and financial realities. It appears that the Kennedy/McCain amnesty bill benefits a corrupt Mexican government and leaves American middle-class taxpayers holding the bag.

During the last six years, Congress has been unable to deal with the looming Social Security deficits affecting the retirement of millions of American citizens from the "Baby Boomer" generation. Still, there is every indication that by the year 2018 the Social Security fund will begin to run huge deficits because of a huge, bulging retirement population from that generation. (USA Today [5/29/2007] reports if the government would complete its income and balance sheets like Fortune 500 companies do, taxpayer-funded government liabilities would total in excess of $516,000 for every household in the nation.)

Congress has a responsibility to protect our borders first. They talked of and voted for a 700-mile fence that was supposed to be built after it was authorized last fall. But the politicians, being what they are, did not fund the initiative -- so don't expect it to happen. Our leaders, including President Bush, need to show the public they are serious about building a fence before any solution to this problem is adequately addressed.

As Jeff Schwilk of the San Diego Minutemen puts it: why should we "reward people who cut in line and encourage tens of millions more poor, desperate people from south of the border to come here illegally?" And Escondido city councilwoman Marie Waldron recently urged her constituency to get involved in the skirmish. "If there was ever a time in our history for every American to stand up and be counted, this is it," she said.

Syndicated radio talk-show host Paul McGuire says the debate on illegal immigration is not a racial issue, but an economic issue.

"When you flood the country with millions of people who depend on socialist style big government, you will effectively dismantle America," McGuire says. "Socialist style government always brings about the loss of religious and personal freedoms .... The lessons of history scream at us! This is the end run around the American people, and there is a reason [the bill] was done in darkness and in secret."

Clearly, our present system allows us to make our voices heard. Everything you need to know about contacting your senators can be found at www.Senate.gov. I suggest you use your precious freedom today and call, write, e-mail, or fax your political leaders -- before that freedom is taken from you.

ORANGE
COUNTY ( CALIFORNIA )
NEWSPAPER

This
is a very good letter to the editor. This woman made some good points. For
some reason, people have difficulty structuring their arguments when arguing
against supporting the currently proposed immigration revisions. This lady
made the argument pretty
simple.

NOT
printed in the Orange County Paper...................

Newspapers
simply won't publish letters to the editor which th ey either deem politically
incorrect (read below) or which does not agree with the philosophy they're
pushing on the public. This woman wrote a great letter to the editor that
should have been published; but, with your help it will get published via
cyberspace!

New
Immigrants
From:
'David LaBonte'

My
wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register
which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to 'print' it myself by
sending it out on the Internet.

Pass it along if you feel so
inclined.
Dave
LaBonte (signed)

Written in response to a series of
letters to the editor in the Orange County
Register:

Dear
Editor:

So
many letter writers ha ve based their arguments on how this land is made up of
immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of
Liberty because the people now in question
aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of
entry.

Maybe
we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why
today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any
longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to
the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in
New York and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees
and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their
new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule
in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in
with their new home.

They
had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and
did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one
culture.

Nothing was handed to them. No free
lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the
skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of
prosperity. Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My
father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from
Germany ,
Italy , France and Japan . None
of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country
their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini
and the Emperor of Japan . They were defending the
United States of
America as one people. When we liberated
France , no one in those villages
were looking for the French-American or the German America n or the Irish
American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we
carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons
would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to
represent who they were. It
would
have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here.
These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the
melting pot into one red, white and blue
bowl.

And
here we are in 2006 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and
privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of
rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being
faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American
is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the
early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and
sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a
beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be
appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign
country flags.

And
for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty , it happens to
mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't
start talking about dismantling the United States just
yet.
(signed) Rosemary
LaBonte

P. S.
Pass this on to everyone you know!!!

KEEP THIS LETTER MOVING!!

I hope
this letter gets read by millions of people

All across the nation!!

GOD

BLESS

AMERICA

NNNO TRUER WORDS, I THINK, WAKE UP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE !!! Not SURE OF THE AUTHOR, BUT IT SURE HITS HOME! Cheap Tomatoes ... This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent

From a California school teacher - - -"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in ch arge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.

Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I estimate that well over 50% of these s tudents are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed te enage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grat e ful to have a free education in America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them "Putas" whores and throwing things that the teachers
were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements? To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pa y more for tom atoes.

We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it.
Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

There are many hardworking Hispanic /American cit izens that contribute to our country and many that I consider my true friends. We should encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way.

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about "politically correct" that we don't have the will to do anything about it.

If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know.

CHEAP LABOR?
Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage

Consumers don't want expensive produce

Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie. there is no such thing as "cheap labor"

</ SPAN>
Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent

He qualifies for food stamps

He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care

His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school

He requires bilingual teachers and books

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at taxpayer's expense

He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his. < BR>
The American taxpayer's also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up. Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people!

Interfaith Vigil to Protest VeriChipping of Alzheimer's Patients

International consumer group CASPIAN (Consumers Against Supermarket
Privacy Invasion and Numbering) will hold a march and prayer vigil this
Saturday to protest a plan to inject VeriChip microchip implants into
200 Alzheimer's Community Care, Inc, patients. The interfaith event
will
be held outside of the Alzheimer's Community Care facility in West Palm
Beach, Florida.

Planners hope the event will enlighten caregivers to the serious
medical
and societal downsides of the VeriChip and encourage them to rethink
using elderly dementia patients as research subjects to test the
controversial product.

The VeriChip implant is a glass encapsulated RFID tag that is injected
into the flesh to uniquely number and identify people. The tag can be
read by radio waves from a few inches away. The device is being
marketed
as a way to link to medical records, access secure areas, and serve as
a
payment instrument when associated with a credit card or pre-paid
account.

Although the VeriChip Corporation emphasizes that its chip should
always
be strictly voluntary, many question the ethics of conducting medical
research on mentally impaired individuals. Alzheimer's patients cannot
understand the risks associated with being microchipped and therefore
cannot give fully informed consent. According to the FDA, risks
associated with the VeriChip include MRI incompatibility, electrical
hazard, and adverse tissue reaction, to name just a few.

"We have an obligation to protect vulnerable members of society from
being used as guinea pigs for controversial medical research," said
CASPIAN founder and director Dr. Katherine Albrecht. "The vast majority
of Americans object to human microchipping, and it is likely these
Alzheimer's patients would feel the same way if they could speak for
themselves."

Albrecht compared the large-scale chip implantation plans to an
assembly
line that would render elderly patients scannable "like bar-coded
packages of meat," adding that the societal implications of such a move
would be chilling.

"Whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, B'hai, or atheist,
no one likes the idea of being forcibly tracked and monitored by
implantable technology without their express consent," she said.

VeriChip Corporation has been very unsuccessful in its bids to chip
humans to date. In fact, only about 250 individuals, most associated
with the company in some way, have been chipped since the VeriChip was
first brought to market in 2001. The Alzheimer's study would boost that
number to over 650, a move possibly designed to help reassure investors
in the beleaguered company. VeriChip posted a $3 million loss last
quarter, the latest in a steady series of multi-million dollar losses.

v.20  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Dear Beloved in Christ,

It is by the grace of God that I received Christ, having known the
truth,I had
no choice than to do what is lawful and right in the sight of God for
eternal
life and in the sight of man for witness of God & his mercies and glory
upon
my life.

I am Mrs.Sheila Johnson the wife of Mr Harold Johnson,my husband worked
with
the Chevron/Texaco in Kenya for twenty years before he died in the
year2001.We
were married for ten years without a child. My Husband died after a
brief
illness that lasted for only four days.

Before his death we were both born again Christians.

Since his death I decided not to re-marry or get a child outside my
matrimonial home which the Bible is against. When my late husband was
alive he
deposited the sum of US$3.5M.(Three Million Five Hundred Thousand
U.S.Dollars)
with a Bank in Europe.Presently, this money is still with the Bank and
the
management
just wrote me as the beneficiary to come forward to sign for the
release of
this money or rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody to
receive it
on my behalf if I can not come over.

Presently,I'm in a hospital in Kenya where I have been undergoing
treatment
for esophageal cancer.I have since lost my ability to talk and my
doctors have
told me that I have only a few weeks to live.It is my last wish to see
this
money distributed to charity organizations anywhere in the
World.Because
relatives and friends have plundered so much of my wealth since my
illness,I
cannot live with the agony of entrusting this huge responsibility to
any of
them.

Please,I beg you in the name of God to help me Stand and collect the
Funds
from the Bank.

I want a person that is God fearing that will use this money to fund
churches, orphanages and widows propagating the word of God and to
ensure that
the house of God is maintained.

Exodus{14 VS14}says that the lord will fight my case and I shall hold
my
peace.I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because
of my
soundless voice and presence of my husband's relatives around me
always.I
don't want them to know about this development. With God all things are
possible.

As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of my
attorney
who is in Europe as he will be the one to assist you in laying claims
for this
funds.

Kindly send your reply to my private email address which is as follows:

Mrs.Sheila Johnson.

I found this from the website,,, Texas Right To Life.. I found it very informational..   Amniotic Fluid: A new source of stem cells

What are Stem Cells?
Stem cells are the basic building blocks of physiological tissue: They are cells that are not yet differentiated into specific types of tissue.  Through normal, natural development, stem cells will become every type of tissue in the human body.  They can also be transformed in the lab into needed tissues (for example, neurological or cardiovascular tissue).

Types of Stem Cells
Embryonic stem cells are extracted from a one week old human embryo.  At this stage, embryonic stem cells have not yet differentiated into specific tissues or organs.  These undifferentiated cells are pluripotent, meaning that they have the potential to become any type of tissue.  While thought to be versatile, they are not very stable: In some cases, they have developed into tumors.  When embryonic stem cells are culled from a human embryo, that nascent member of our human family is destroyed.  (Embryonic stem cells come from two sources—the human embryos created through cloning and the embryos created for in vitro fertilization.)

Adult stem cells can be taken from myriad sources: umbilical cord blood, placentas, skin, bone marrow, and more.  Adult stem cells are multipotent, meaning that they have the potential to become many types of tissue.  Because adult stem cells are somewhat differentiated, their growth is more manageable.  Even scientists who favor embryonic stem cell research concur that adult stem cells roam the body seeking to repair or replace damaged cells.  When adult stem cells are obtained for scientific research or medical therapies, no innocent human life is taken.

Amniotic Stem Cells
Amniotic stem cells are proving to be yet another alternative to embryonic stem cells.  The amniotic stem cells seem to be pluripotent (like embryonic stem cells) but also remain stable (like adult stem cells).  Researchers at Wake Forest University and Harvard University have been able to transform these amniotic stem cells into brain, liver, and bone tissue.  Additionally, if the stem cells are used on the same baby from whom they came, there is no risk of cell-rejection.

Dr. Anthony Atala, head of Wake Forest’s Institute for Regenerative Medicine and senior researcher on the project, expressed his excitement, “Our hope is that these cells will provide a valuable resource for tissue repair and for engineered organs as well.”

The Morality of Stem Cell Research
Embryonic stem cell research (ESCR) is not ethical because the process of acquiring the stem cells necessarily causes the destruction of an innocent human life.  ESCR also involves destructive experimentation on a young human without consent, which is never morally permissible.  This is why Pro-Life advocates can never support ESCR.

Amniotic stem cells are obtained through amniocentesis, which does carry a 1% risk of death for the unborn baby.  It is, therefore, not preferable to adult stem cell research, which carries absolutely no risk of harm or death.

Dr. David Prentice, an internationally recognized expert on stem cell research and cloning, shared his response to this research with National Right to Life:

This is exciting news from the scientists at Wake Forest.  These adult-type stem cells from amniotic fluid and placenta (afterbirth) have all the positives scientists claim to want from stem cells—flexibility to make different tissues, easy and long-term growth in the lab, no tumors—without the negatives associated with embryonic stem cells.  There is no rational reason to pursue embryo destruction for stem cells; those who still want embryo research are interested in politics, not patients.

Salmonella Outbreak Linked To Peanut Butter

(AP) ATLANTA A salmonella outbreak that has slowly grown to nearly 300 cases in 39 states since August has been linked to tainted peanut butter, federal health officials said Wednesday.

It is believed to be the first salmonella outbreak associated with peanut butter in U.S. history, said officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

About 20 percent of the 288 infected people have been hospitalized, but none has died, said Dr. Mike Lynch, a CDC epidemiologist.

About 85 percent of the infected people said they ate peanut butter, CDC officials said.

How salmonella got into peanut butter is still under investigation, Lynch said.

The Food and Drug Administration warned consumers not to eat certain jars of Peter Pan or Great Value peanut butter because of the risk of contamination.

The affected jars have a product code on the lid that begins with the number "2111." The affected jars are made by ConAgra in a single facility in Sylvester, Ga., the FDA said.

Great Value peanut butter made by other manufacturers is not affected, the agency said.

ConAgra said it is recalling all Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter beginning with product code 2111.

"Although none of our extensive product tests have indicated the presence of salmonella, we are taking this precautionary measure because consumer health and safety is out top priority," spokesman Chris Kircher said. "We are working closely with the FDA to better understand its concerns, and we will take whatever additional measures are needed to ensure the safety, quality and wholesomeness of our products."

The largest number of salmonella cases were reported in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee and Missouri.

Salmonella infection is known each year to sicken about 40,000 people in the United States, according to the CDC. Salmonellosis, as the infection is known, kills about 600 people annually.

Symptoms of salmonella can include diarrhea, fever, dehydration, abdominal pain and vomiting.

The new outbreak began in August, but just two or fewer cases have been reported each day, CDC officials said.

It was only in the past few days that investigators were able to hone in on a particular food, Lynch said.

ConAgra is destroying all affected products the company still has, the FDA said.

The company will cease production until the exact cause of contamination can be identified and eliminated. Meanwhile, ConAgra advised consumers to destroy any Peter Pan and Great Value brand peanut butter beginning with product code 2111.

The FDA sent investigators to ConAgra's processing plant in Sylvester where the products were made to review records, collect product samples and conduct tests for salmonella.

I am going to let my fingers do the talking,, While going through my Neighborhood website,, I found a link to the elected officials website.. Well I don't know how to do all that fancy stuff like pasting links and such,, whenever I  think I have it figured out and try it doesn't come out right.  So I will have to do it the long way...

I would hope that those who are unhappy with what the Governor is doing  would so graciously let him know !!!!! And when you start throwing around the fact that now your not so sure who you want to vote for,, ( or against ) or not at all,,It usually gets their attention,,, The least you can do is let him know what you are thinking...

They need to understand that they ARE SUPPOSE to be working for us not against us,, And when they start to get off the trail,, We can use our votes to get someone who will stay on the trail,,I am not happy at all with what Rick Perry has done and what he wants to do,,, And because of that I won't vote for him in any race !!!!  And that's the way it should be,,,

I think that if we start using our voices and our votes,, We could get more of what we want done,,, And stop what we don't like being done...

If you go to  www.firstgov.gov  click on  contact elected officials,, click on state govetrnors,,  click  Texas,,, You will get a list of officials that you can e-mail to.. Presdent,,US Senators,, US Representatives,, State Governors,, State Legislator,,, And if you would just like to pick up the phone and let Rick Perry know what you are thinking you  can call  his office at.... 512-463-2000
