I had not watched the news in a little while... I guess I got tired of all the depressing news being shown, but one thing I noticed when I did turn it back on was that Maria Sotolongo was gone.
Where'd she go?

I think it's good they have this website, I really do, but I have a problem with them throwing statistics out there that only seem to go to 1 breed of dogs.... Pit Bulls. "Over 60% of the dogs on the website are either Pit Bulls or a Pit Bull mix."
First, I wanna say that every dog has a snapping point. The only difference in Pits and other dogs is that Pits have a really strong bite. Any other dog, cat or bird can bite you if it's pushed to its limits. It's not limited to a breed, just like criminals aren't limited to a specific race or gender.
I have a Pit puppy named Lucy who's almost 6 months old and she's about 90% Pit. She's a wonderful puppy. She's just like any of your dogs. When company comes over, she wags her tail so hard that it looks like her butt's about to fall off. She gets so excited when people give her attention and she loves to climb in my lap and lay down. When I sit on the couch to watch tv, she jumps up there with me and lets me lay my head on her stomach like a pillow as we watch tv. She's a playful puppy who loves people and wants to play with other dogs... she doesn't want to attack them or hurt them.
Before you decide you don't like a Pit Bull because of their reputation, you should come meet my dog. She will change your mind. My husband grew up around Pit Bulls his entire life and he said Lucy is the only Pit he's ever known who loves to lay on your lap. She's a big baby and I like how everyone acts when I tell them she's a Pit.
Every animal has a snapping point, including your little chihuahua, and I'm a firm believer that it's all about how you raise your animals. If you raise them mean, your animals will be mean. If you raise them friendly, they'll be friendly.

Lucy colored with crayola markers.
She was sleeping like this and then I woke her up.

She crawled between my husband's legs and fell asleep while he was setting up her new cage.

Playing in the kitchen with her squeeky turkey toy.

Call me old fashioned, but why is it acceptable that teenagers are wanting daycare at their highschool? Teenagers shouldn't be having babies!!! People will say "it's an accident"... I don't care. Teenagers shouldn't be having sex! PERIOD. Having daycare in school is practically promoting that it's ok to be a teen parent because it's easier than having to find a good daycare somewhere else.
I'm really annoyed that these teenage parents want maternity leave and daycare. It is NOT ACCEPTABLE for teenagers to be having babies. Some people who will read this will not agree with me, and that's fine, but I'm standing firm in my beliefs... and if there are any teenagers who read this, USE A SPERMICIDAL CONDOM OR DON'T HAVE SEX!!!

No offense Fox 4, but what's the deal with you guys always over reporting certain stories?
When the severe flooding happened in Haltom City and Gainsville, you guys reported it to the point that I started not to care because I was so sick of hearing the same story over and over again.
I was excited to hear American Idol was coming to town because I knew I'd get a preview of what was to come at the beginning of '08, but that's not what I got at all. In fact, what I got was Celina Ray telling her story all over again [like anyone really cares about her anyway] and getting more coverage than is needed. At this point, I wish Celina Ray and the North Texas American Idol auditions would just fall off the face of the earth.
Thanks, Fox 4, for running everything into the dirt all over again! Oh, and tell Celina Ray to go home. She's a "has been" at this point.

Ok, in my honest opinion, FOX4 didn't need to do a breaking news about marajuana being found next to the Trinity River.
When the breaking news banner came up and Dan Godwin said "Ok, and right now we have some breaking news in Dallas," I thought they were going to show a shoot out, or an officer killed or something IMPORTANT, for that matter. I don't really think marajuana being found should be considered breaking news.
[I do not do drugs, nor have I ever, so don't come back at me saying I'm writing this because I've done it and don't see what the big deal is.] No, I believe there are bigger things in the city that goes on that should be addressed besides finding marajuana growing. It reminds me of that news segment the other day where marajuana was found growing in a nice neighborhood and everyone was shocked.
Get with reality, people! Drugs happen everywhere all the time. It's no news flash that a nice neighborhood has drug users in it and it's definitely not something that just started happening!

I know those people had good intent, but it made me mad to hear the story about how they were burying the "N" word.
Now just follow me for a second.
I don't like the "N" word either. I think it's a filthy and degrading word, but I hardly hear white people use it. It's mostly the black people who go to their friends and greet each other with it. The rappers use it in their music and it's everywhere. If it's such a profane word [still], how come it's everywhere and people think it's ok to say it? In my personal opinion, the people who decided they were going to bury the word should've done more to try to get the word off the streets and out of music before burying it. The way people throw that word around, it's just like someone saying "I'm gonna bury the word 'flower'." Those people use the "N" word like anyone else would throw around "flower" when talking about their gardens. Them "burying" it isn't going to get rid of it or make it weird for them to say. The people who say it don't care that it's wrong. It won't affect them at all.
...just a thought.

There was a story done a little while back about a woman and her infant daughter who came up missing. Both were hispanic and the daughter was found in a mexican city... The last I'd heard was there was a body found in a river down by Laredo and they were planning to do a test to see if it was the mother.
What happened with that story? Did it turn out to be her body? If so, has anyone else heard anything about a clue as to why she was killed?

Just like everyone who lives in Haltom City, I too found this story to be VERY un-nerving. I lived in Haltom City my whole life until I moved away about 2 years ago. Buffalo Ridge Park is right behind Haltom High School and my friends and I used to go hang out there all the time when I was going to school at Haltom. I lived maybe a mile away.
I remember always thinking to myself when I'd be walking home on the trail or walking to a friends house "people can hide anywhere in these trees and someone wouldn't see them until it was too late"... and now look. Something has happened. It's extremely sad because I have such wonderful memories of that park and now everything is forever changed and contaminated.
I called a friend of mine from school who used to hang with me at that park all the time and told her about the murder, and she couldn't believe it, but then she said "well, you know, people used to go back there all the time and get high." Whether it was murder or unintentional suicide from a drug overdose, it still hits too close to home for comfort and if it really was a murder... I hope they are caught. My family still lives there as well as a lot of my friends and I would die if anything happened to any of them.

I'm just going to vent for a second about organic stuff.
Ok, organic is probably better for your body, but I think the hype about it is getting a bit carried away.
Organic stuff is like $5 more expensive than the non-organic stuff, and I'm extremely irritated about the short story of Walmart promoting organic stuff. "Walmart is encouraging customers to buy organic milk, food and cotton t-shirts."
If we all had the money to buy everything organic like they're wanting, then WHY IN THE WORLD ARE WE SHOPPING AT WALMART!? I'm not speaking for everyone when I say this, but I shop at Walmart because I don't have a whole lot of money and can't afford the $7 gallon of organic milk, or the $15 organic plain white t-shirt.
If you can afford organic stuff and that's all you buy... good for you, but it's like someone's chewing me out for not being able to buy the stuff that's better for the environment. Well, maybe when I can afford $7 for milk, and $15 for that plain white t-shirt, then I'll start buying organic stuff, but until that day comes, I'm gonna buy what I can afford, even if it's not the nicest stuff.

I completely understand why the postal service is increasing the cost to send stuff, but I think it's getting a little bit rediculous. As if the rate increases at the end of the year isn't enough, now they're doing it in the middle of the year and I'm willing to bet that before another full year passes [365 days], there will be another rate increase.
Sure, you can buy that forever stamp, but I'm sure in a few years it will cost about $2.00 to mail a letter.

I had full coverage on my car with Unitrin. So far everyone that I've talked to had nothing good to say about them, and I've had them for the last year and a half. Well, I recently had a TERRIBLE experience with them and I need some help with new insurance since obviously I'm not keeping Unitrin.
I was in a car accident March 9th and it was a simple accident- one that happens every time it rains. I hit a slick spot while trying to stop at a red light and slid into the man in front of me. Yes, I tried to switch lanes when I realized I was sliding, but I wasn't going anywhere but forward. I hit a truck with a towing hitch.
It messed up the front my car, but luckily since I was going relitively slow, it didn't touch my engine at all. Other than the impact bar that was bent in slightly, it was costmetic damage.
I filed my claim with Unitrin because it was pretty much a fender bender with the impact bar bent because of the towing hitch. They had their guy come out and estimate the damage, and he smiled as he told me it was totalled. That was my baby! I sent it back to the dealership to have their body shop look at it, and they said it wasn't totalled and that it would cost about $2,100 to fix because it messed with the bumper, the hood, the passenger headlight and such. Well, my insurance company WILL NOT FIX MY CAR. They want to total it and pay the dealership $3,000 if they get the car in their possession, and if they don't get the car, they're only willing to pay about $2,500.... but it will have TOTALLED written across the title and in Texas, you can't drive with a salvaged title. You can get it inspected or anything... so I'm told. The dealership and I have fought with them for the last month to just fix my car, and they absolutely refuse... so now my car's gone. :( [Mind you it was pretty much ALL cosmetic damage.] I spoke with the total loss adjustor assigned and, while on a 3 way call with me and the manager at the dealership, she lied and claimed I said I'd agree to the money. I interrupted her and told her I never said anything about that! All this AFTER we hadn't heard anything from her in 2 weeks. All this because she is a liar and no one can reason with her.
So now I have to start from scratch and it's all because my insurance company is willing to total the car for more money than to just fix it for less. [Aren't insurance companies all about keeping more money in their pocket? It'd be more money in their pocket if they just fixed it!] I have to go out this weekend and find another car, and you better believe I'm 100% done with Unitrin Insurance! [Everyone I've talked to who's had them has told me they've screwed them over, and now they've done it to me!]
Does anyone out there know of any really good insurance companies that will do what they say they're going to do, just in case something as unfortunate as this happens again? Your input is GREATLY appreciated. I'm young and don't know many insurance companies since I've only been driving for a few years.

He's going to California! :( That's so sad. One of our own is leaving.
Well, I wish him luck there. Gas prices are pretty expensive right now and I bet he'll be wishing he's back in Texas where it isn't $4 a gallon in the beginning of April.

I think this is just so sad.
That poor family really made themselves look stupid because they were talking about how good those two girls were and how they always do what's right. Well, not now! I bet they'll question their kids' credibility after this incident.
I'm really glad to hear that someone's finally going to slap some justice to these girls. I wish they can see the extent of the damage they've caused, and I hope they really realize that they're lucky someone didn't actually kidnap them.
Personally, I've had a couple of attempted kidnappings and was able to get away. They're very frightening ordeals and these dumb girls play it off like it's nothing.
The best thing I can do for those girls is to pray that they get exactly what they deserve!

If that isn't the biggest b.s. I've ever heard. THIS IS AMERICA, NOT MEXICO!!!
If it wasn't for all the "illegal trash" buying pizzas from Pizza Patron, maybe they could be put out of business. The downfall is that since most of their customers are mexicans [more than likely illegal since they've got pesos], it's not likely that they're gonna feel the punch and be hit hard enough to be shut down if all of America's LEGAL people stop buying from them.
I can't stand companies like that who bend the rules to benefit illegals. I heard something earlier today that in Austin they're starting to give an extra $150 bonus each month to those people who are bilingual. How is that fair to the rest of us? My husband and I are hard working individuals who refuse to learn spanish because these people refuse to learn english and like every other hard working American who's here legally, we pay taxes out the ass and where does that money go? That money goes straight to those people who are helping the illegals and the ones who refuse to acknowledge that ENGLISH is what we speak here... not spanish.
People like us are pretty much getting the blunt end of the system. Like my husband says, "The Government treats illegals better than they do their own citizens." It's true and everyone out there knows that. I wish I could stick it to the Government like they do us and make them feel the burn like we do every month when we're struggling to pay our bills!
