From the National Weather Service models, it looks like TS Chris is heading directly toward the Texas/Louisianna coastlines. Barring any steering currents that could take it northward into Florida and the Carolinas, it should head directly for the gulf states.

FEMA is already activating, with teams on stand-by as we speak. TS Chris looks to be at hurricane strength within the next day or two, sliding across Cuba. Maybe Fidel's younger brother will properly prepare his country for landfall? Maybe not. Being only the beginning of August and being only the 3rd named storm of the Atlantic season ... it should be quite a year.

Y'all take care, and perhaps if Chris hits Texas, we north Texans will get some much needed rain. Maybe.

Of course that is why we (on FOX 4) do NOT show extended model tracks past 72 hours. Not only are the tracks of tropical systems unpredictable past 72 hours, but the strengths can fluctuate as well. Today's models are 100% different, killing Chris off, and tracking the remains into Cuba and the South Gulf...not to mention, that it looks awful (weak) on the satellite.
Sometimes Panic is not warranted...
