I miss north Texas. Most importantly, I miss Fox4. At least I get it online.
I have been working the December 2007 ice storm disaster up here in Oklahoma for the past two months. I'm no stranger to Oklahoma: At this same time last year, I was working in this same area helping them recover from the January ice storms of 2007. Over the course of 1 year, Oklahoma was hit by a total of 9 federally-declared disasters. It's difficult to fathom, but Oklahoma is quickly being upstaged by Missouri.
Since Dec 06, Oklahoma has been hit with:
- 3 severe storm (Dec 06 through Feb 07)
- 4 severe storms/tornadoes/flooding (May 07 through June 07)
- 2 severe winter storm (Dec 07 through Jan 08)
Missouri is shadowing Oklahoma in terms of disaster damage:
- 1 severe winter storm (Dec 06)
- 1 severe winter storm/flooding (Jan 07)
- 1 severe storms/flooding (June 07)
- 1 severe storms/flooding (Sept 07)
- 1 severe winter storm (Dec 07)
- 1 severe storms/tornadoes/flooding (Feb 08)
- 1 severe winter storm/flooding (March 08)
- 1 severe storms/flooding (March 08)
Are we in for a long year? I hope not. But damage assessments are currently being conducted in Oklahoma and Arkansas for flooding. Keep the residents of affected communities, as well as the first responders and recovery teams in your thoughts and prayers.
