Okay, after listening to the news this morning it made me wonder. The speech President Bush did yesterday was it suppose to be about 9/11, the war in Iraq, or the war against OhSama. He totally lost me when I heard it, I thought the war against Ohsama was the one against terriorism, isn't Ohsama the one that had somrthing to do with 9/11? I thought the war in Iraq was about chemical warfare and Hussein? Am I wrong? So what was his speech suppose to do? Make us think we are safer now or what?

Let's see if I can clear this up for you. We are safe but we can not let our guard down. Osama's the guy and the battlefied is Iraq and Afgan. Now what part of enemy do you not understand?

"isn't Ohsama the one that had somrthing to do with 9/11?"

yes

"I thought the war in Iraq was about chemical warfare and Hussein?"

That was the excuse they used.

"Am I wrong?"

no

"So what was his speech suppose to do?"

Didn't see it.

"Make us think we are safer now or what?"

That is what all the rhetoric and unconstitutional laws have been about since Sept 2001...to make us "believe" we are safer.

I clearly know who the enemy ism his speech just threw me off. And I don't think we will ever really be safe again. To many enemies here and afar.

We should have just turned that whole area into a sheet of glass on 9/12. That would have taken care of everything. Bin Laden, Taliban, Al-Queda, Saddam, Iran, etc. would have all been taken care of with instant 1,000,000 degree heat.

I couldn't agree more. Just go over there and drop the BIG ONE and get it over with once and for all.

I thought when the invasion was ordered that it was going to be "shock and awe" so I thought--well you better dig into a deep bunker because you guys are going to have everything leveled? Instead it was "boom, boom" oh--we can't go there as that war chemical plant is built on top of a day care center. Now, who has the offensive in this???

It's important to understand the context of "safe" or "safer".

emh1231 states ".. I don't think we will ever really be safe again."
We were NEVER safe against this enemy.
They simply didn't have the cahones to strike us until 1979. (Tehran)
Since then they've slowly escalated their attacks until we deservedly attained the "Paper Tiger" status that UBL spoke of.
(Frankly we started to get this rep after bailing in Vietnam.)
The US fixated on the Soviet threat throughout the 70's & 80's.
Ignoring the Islamo-fascist escalation that was taking place right under our noses-Beirut, USS Cole, US Embassies in Africa etc, etc...
Then UBL pulls the 9/11 trigger and here we are.
We have LOTS of catching up to do-militarily-politcally-culturally to face this threat.
Right now we are still playing the blame game.
Congress is stifled by P.C. and special interests that hinder common sense policy and laws that WOULD make us safer.
NOT SAFE-but safer.
It will be an ongoing process that equires us to continue the fight wherever it may exist.
Even if it means returning to an area that was once taken care of- Afghanistan.
This war will never end as long as the enemy has the will to fight-that is how motivated they are.
We as a nation must understand the enemy we face-They are following the theory laid forth by Sun Tzu-
In a nutshell as long as they are alive they are winning and will continue to strike.
Are safer?
A little bit.
We have along way to go
Until special interest and P.C. is laid to rest this war will have many unnecessary "mistakes and missteps" that will cost

This is an unfortunate condition of our country today.

How do we conquer the land? Answer: Little by little.

Rome wasn't built in a day and to me the President was reaffirming the nation that we still have our goals in place to wipe out Bin Wacko and to continue to demolish terrorist networks.

If you'll remember, the speech he gave after 911 was that we were going to seek out ALL terrorist networks, it's pretty obvious Hussein was a terrorist icon with the ability and power to destroy many.

Did the President lie about "why" we went to war w/ Iraq? Maybe. However, I personally believe Bin Ladin's efforts were backed by Hussein's money.

Wow, it's amazing how some people can hear something and not understand a word of it. I find that pretty common in here.

If we had nuked the entire area immediately after 9/11, maybe it would have made a dent in the terrorist #s. Now, they have had plenty of time to recruit more nuts (and converts are more than ever!), and spread cells to every corner of the world. They are like a cancer, and I know of only one thing that kills cancer.....RADIATION.

I don't think President Bush lied about the chemicals. I think the stuff is there just buried somwhere where it can't be found.

Acoolone: How was the anti-illegal rally? I had to fly to Baden-Baden on business, otherwise I would have gone.
