I went to Space.com to check out the solar eclipse that is supposed to be happening on Aug 1. Unfortunately, it won't be viewable from the United States.
I did learn that there is a meteor shower going on right now through the middle of August. It is the Perseid Shower. The best time to see it will be late Aug 11 and in the predawn hours of Aug 12. During its peak, the shower will produce 50-100 bright meteors per hour.
I am looking forward to it. Good luck with your sky watching.

There will be a meteor shower early in the morning on Friday, Jan. 4th. The best time to see them will be about 12:40 am. Looking to the east northeast, you could see 30-60 per hours at this time.
Dont know if I will see many considering how cool it is going to be. Good luck with your sky watching.
