Now, we have bashed, focused upon, and chided the Democratic candidates.  But, I would like to point out something positive in this chaotic run for the coveted position of President.  The positive movements of John McCain.  Now, yes, he can run a negative finger-pointing campaign, and I am sure when the Democrats finally choose Madame Hillary for their appointed one, that he will dig deep into the dirt to sling that political mud.  But for now, the he is in the Middle East meeting with heads of state, surveying the war zone, shaking hands, talking with those in command.  And looking very much the President.  He may make a couple errors in what he says and does, but the coverage of his trip to the part of the world where we need support from a Commander-in -Chief seemed to me a successful, positive one.  He doesn't have to stay here and bash an opponent.  That will come again in a few months, but for now, John McCain is giving us and the world a view of what it might be like for him to be at the helm.

In my opinion--this is a smart, politically positive move! I liked what I saw rather than the talk of ministers, past erroneous trips, and race or gender, he has showed us a Presidential candidate doing what is expected of a chief executive--taking charge where charge is needed.  AND--he showed to those questioning his age, that he has the stamina!

I don't like McCain, but I agree that he is playing it very smart right now. He's staying out of the fight while Clinton and Obama beat the heck out of each other.

He's the clear choice for me.

I don't like McC and haven't since 2000 when he behaved as they typical 5 yr old bitter whiner. Voting for him will not be a pleasure but a necessity to keep the worse of the libs OUT of office for the sake of the country's well being.

C'mon. You're giving him credit for not doing anything? Yeah I agree with you that he'd be a fool to start anything right now but I wouldn't give him credit for keeping quiet.

I'd rather have him back home doing his job and actually voting on the bills he missed on his p.r. mission to Iraq. Why do we pay him the $160k a year to do?

I'm a lifelong republican and I'm ashamed to have McCain the nominee. He just doesn't get it. Does he really think we can change a billion Muslim's viewpoints with a barrel of a gun. Does he ever ask WHY there is such hatred for us among the radicals and how that is transfers to the moderates? He's a disaster and if elected will end this country as we know.

I didn't say that McCain is my real choice, but as many of you have said, he will be the Republican nominee, and for myself, to keep either Hillary or Obama out of the oval office [and Bill for that matter too] I will vote for him, and yes in the past he was a bit of a sore loser, but he now has the platform, so I hope we see a different side of him.

Oh hell yeah,I sure do want a President that want's to stay in a war that cost the tax payers 260 billion dollars a month. A president that by his on admission said he doesn't know a thing about the economy. And please don't forget when John Kerry was running, he intertained the idea of switching parties. We sure do need a president that want's to give illegals amnesty. When McCain becomes President we'll be speaking Chinese. Any idoit knows during "War Time" the econmy is going to take a hit. I think McCain just got hit in the head.

I too don't care for john(pablo) mccain, but there is not another dog in the fight that I could cross over and vote for. I do respect him for his military service, for it was hard to fight the V.N., war. I know for I had three tours there and was lucky to be as well as I am, so I will vote for him. But he is a slow talker and I fear for him in a debate with either of the two lawyers running against him.

I have yet to find someone who loves John McCain as their candidate. How then did he become the nominee? Was he anointed? Go to your republican caucuses and demand a new candidate. I refuse to continue to vote the lesser of the evils. All three of them are the same to me.

I am disappointed in the Republican Party in how they handled this nomination process. There were some really good alternatives that were trying to get their word out there and it was like from the beginning--after being all but forgotten, all of a sudden it was McCain the annoited one. I know I didn't vote for him in the primary, nor did my husband, and in fact like some of you, I don't know of anyone who did--so how?
