Did anyone see Obama on "The View" on  Friday?   I haven't had the computer until now, so I am just now catching up.  I did watch this, I wasn't going to, and then I thought--well, my curiosity got the better of me.

First, he was inconsistent in his answers.  He was still trying to make excuses for his minister and church choice.  He really skirted the direct answer--seems he is good at that [gee a bit like  Bill Clinton ]

Secondly, any person in a leadership position who can't look an audience straight in the eye doesn't get my vote.  Watch him--he has a shifty eye about him, and that really bothers me.

I know now after watching him with the --for a change- polite women on The View --on Friday that I can't vote for him.

There are so many issues facing us in the next four years, and maybe leaving Iraq will happen, but it is something to be done with caution--leaving an open possibility of that part of the world exploding isn't a good idea either.

The economy needs help!  I am not sure that Obama, or Clinton or even McCain will be the key--I think that will come from a good strong cabinet, the citizens of this great country, a bit of struggle and as normal, hard work,  not just one man, or woman.

Immigration--the gates have been open for so long now, that they won't be easy to close.

Health care--hmmmm--do you really want to wait for 2-3 months to see a doctor only to wait another lengthy period of time for an emergancy proceedure--or to be told--sorry you don't qualify??  Yes, we need something more affordable in the way of health care--but heh--it needs to start with the pharmesutical companies, the hospitals that over charge for everything [and believe me, I know about that one].  Insurance companies themselves need to make a huge move to make insurance affordable for all of us--with a reasonable cost without having to have such high deductables that no one can afford to have anything done.  At least there is some kind of a move towards the affordable generic prescriptions.

I don't think either of the Democratic candidates is ideal, but Obama has gone down a notch in my personal opinion poll.

Now, we have bashed, focused upon, and chided the Democratic candidates.  But, I would like to point out something positive in this chaotic run for the coveted position of President.  The positive movements of John McCain.  Now, yes, he can run a negative finger-pointing campaign, and I am sure when the Democrats finally choose Madame Hillary for their appointed one, that he will dig deep into the dirt to sling that political mud.  But for now, the he is in the Middle East meeting with heads of state, surveying the war zone, shaking hands, talking with those in command.  And looking very much the President.  He may make a couple errors in what he says and does, but the coverage of his trip to the part of the world where we need support from a Commander-in -Chief seemed to me a successful, positive one.  He doesn't have to stay here and bash an opponent.  That will come again in a few months, but for now, John McCain is giving us and the world a view of what it might be like for him to be at the helm.

In my opinion--this is a smart, politically positive move! I liked what I saw rather than the talk of ministers, past erroneous trips, and race or gender, he has showed us a Presidential candidate doing what is expected of a chief executive--taking charge where charge is needed.  AND--he showed to those questioning his age, that he has the stamina!

Here they all come!  For the next few days we Texans will be bombarded by the "hopefuls" .  Promises, promises,  promises.  "I" will do this--"I" will bring change.  Change, change, change--and these words are in every champaign ad and speech that I have heard.  One [who is a senator] claims to be a Washington outsider.  How is that possible.  OH wait maybe because he has missed quite a few votes in the senate.  I have heard promises of free this, lower this, more of that, and something for every American no matter what.  But come next January when one promises to be in her office the first day !  What no innagural balls and celebrations???  Anyway, Texas is an important state so the ads will keep coming.  My phone is ringing, and ringing, but with my new phone service all those calls go to a voice mail--and so I just ignore them.  But if I check it and listen, I hear even more hype.

OH!  the newest ad---a phone rings in the White House in the middle of the night--who do you want to answer it.  [the phone is the red phone]

I only hope that none of you out there fall for all the hype.  We all have to weigh very carefully our decisions-- the Republican side is not sewn up, and certainly on the Democrat side the mud is being thrown fast and furious.  Get ready for all the dirty tricks!!!!!  I voted early, and while I won't divulge who, just that I voted my party, and being conservative, well that was a difficult vote.  But then there is no way I could go for the communistic plans of the two Democrat candidates.  There I said it--we are moving closer to that form of government.  The kind of government we fought both in words and in physical battles to keep from taking over other countries.  Oh, be careful what you wish for people!  Think of it as perhaps an 8 year Presidency not just 4.  And oh the changes that can take place! If you are unhappy with the way things are now--well, they could always be worse!

VOTE--but VOTE for your freedom!

Back to the writing pages of Fox DFW.

I don't know if you missed me, but I am back.  I had to come back to weigh in on the political climate.  Missed the last part of football season--so I will just say--to all my favorite teams--next year will be here soon!

I guess I will use this first returning blog to express my views on the current political races--and all I can say is--pray for all of us!  I am not passionate about anybody yet.  Except,  I will not vote for Hillary--and hopefully that won't be an option anyway!
