Okay, I just saw a report for Arlington that two teenage boys (look to be around 14-16) in the middle of the night alone out trying to body surf/swim in the currents.  A passing car called the Police to report them.   Fortunately, they came out alive and of course here comes mother in her car after being called by her son, which indicates to me that they weren't close to home,  crying and boo hooing.  One child had to be treated at the ER for a breathing problem.

Why, Why, Why are these children outside at night or day, alone and allowed to just run wild like this and the parents not know where they are.  I see now how so many children end up missing or abused by strangers because of careless parents.  I don't care whether 0-17  if they are under your roof you should be watching them.  Very young children and teens may seem smart enough to know better but in certain situations they are not always capable of making the right decision, that is why God gave them parents.  Geez!

Let's call it what it is - Child Endangerment! Back in the day when my brothewr snuck out of the home my parents waited up for him in his room to greet and beat him!!! Now parents and people are always worried about the childrens rights! Children have no rights- parents do and they should be excercising them. These two boys should be cited for truancy or what ever and the parent should be facing CPS !

Why should the parent face CPS. As far as you know she did everything right. Kids sneak out of the house, I know I did. I also would tell my mother I was going one place and go another. of course I was punished when I did it, but I still did it. I drank before I was of legal age, climbed over the fence of the city pool at 1:00 in the morning. My parents were very good parents by anyones standard but I still did things I shouldn't have, thats part of growing up.

That's why when they call me sniveling about being in the company of an officer, my answer would be...

"Let me speak to the officer..."

"Officer? Do what you need to do. I told him NOT to go out and all the doors to my home are locked...he snuck out a window. Scare him straight.."

Those teens need to be given a ticket/citation or some form of community service to raise the money that it took to rescue them and treat them.

Captain, I'm gonna have to disagree with you. I think school aged teens, heck even school aged children do not need to have as much freedom as I think you did when you were young. If they're of working age they need to go get a job and learn disicpline and responsibility. If they're younger they need to to stay home and work around the house or get involved in activities that the parents set up around the community, maybe a sport or something. I believe these kids that have been getting into trouble, vandalizing, trying to surf creeks, etc all have too much freedom and thus they're getting into trouble! I know kids need to have fun and experience things but not without a parent's supervision, they can go and blow when they're 18 and have the legal right to do so.
