I've heard the teachers involved in this "prank" were only suspended? I think until
June 1?

Gimme a break!

I'm probably in the minority here, but these two should've been fired. With all of
the killing that has gone in our schools over the past couple of years, the last
thing a 6th grader needs (or any student for that matter) is the belief that they
might die.

Hey teacher, how would you feel if I came in with a gun, pointed it at your head and
asked you if you believed in Jesus? Then after you wet your pants after I pull the trigger
of a play gun, I say, wasn't that funny...it was just an act.

Would you be satisfied if I only got probation?

Of course, based on your decision skills up unto this point, you probably would be stupid
enough to agree to such a thing.

Ok I just found the story and I can't believe they did this. I would fire them as well. If they wanted to plan a safety drill then that is fine but the kids need to be told. I would definitly fire these teachers.

jclguru - just read your bio and saw you are a bird photographer. Photography is my passion! (Not so much of birds though!) Have you been to the Heron Rookery out in Cuyahoga Valley? Some members of my Photo Club have got some great shots from there over the last couple weeks. Heard there was a bald eagle there too. Also, my husband is a bird-watcher and was up at Crane Creek last week near Sandusky and said he was in heaven with all the hundreds of birds there starting their migration from Canada to the south.

Ha? Ha? Ha???? I fail to see the humor. They should be fired. Some of those children will probably suffer with anxiety and nightmares, as a result of their stupidity.

As to the subject of your blog - I have not heard this story yet but I get the "jist" of it from the comments and it sounds crazy!

And to think these teacher's are here to teach our kids. What a shame. I say fire them and take their license and put them in the shredder. They shouldn't be allowed to teach any more.

For some reason, this story is hard to find. Here's two paragraphs from the story and what
the assistant principal had to say about it (he)
was one of the two in on this...

During the last night of a weeklong trip to a state park, staff members convinced 69 sixth-grade students from Scales Elementary School that there was a gunman on the loose.

The students were told to lie on the floor or hide underneath tables and stay quiet. After the lights went out, some of the children began to cry. A teacher, disguised in a hooded sweat shirt, pulled on locked doors.

The response...

Bartch, who was present, has said the scenario was intended as a learning experience and lasted only five minutes.

Although it would be moot at this point, not even
an apology from the assistant principal. He
probably still thinks that what he did was
right.

Man, the more think about this, the more it
really peeves me off.

What a double standard. A kid gets two years for "Calling in" a threat. And these teachers who staged a shooting will get nothing. It is BULL !!

Ya, dont chu u think it was over rated too! I mean come on it could have disturbed a child, to be so scared to go to school.Or they thought it was funny and could include bringing guns, just because the teachers did it for a joke. Your sooo right!

wow tats incredible that teachers can get away with that stuff it shocks me that if a kid brings a toy gun to school there exspelled but a teacher soes it and they get nothing maybe we should switch this up and treat the teachers like adults and not the kids!
