I saw that item on CNN about the girl being escorted out of her prom in handcuffs. Apparently she acted the way she was dressed; like a hooker. How can parents allow their daughter out of the house like that? So, in case some of those parents don't know how young people should look for prom, I decided to post a couple photos of my daughter's first prom.

Below are examples of appropriate prom dressing. These young people look like they're ready for a dance & a fun evening at prom. The teenage girls look like young ladies & the teenage boys look like young gentelmen. And, they conducted themselves accordingly. The young lady pictured below is my oldest daughter. We had so much fun shopping for her dress & yes, I gave my input! One set of parents sprang for the limo, which ensures the young people get to & from prom safely. After prom, they all went to IHop, which is definitely an acceptable place for teenagers to go.

I too read the article and saw the pictures. All the young woman needed was a pole to complete her outfit. She knew what she was doing, she had read the guidelines and she chose not to comply. That she chose to react in an inflammatory manner is no real surprise. BTY your daughters and her friends look lovely.

What I would like to know is WHERE are this girl's parents? That dress looks more appropriate for a strip club runway than a high school prom. I realize that kids see this type of dress and behavior on music videos, but honestly, that is most inappropriate for a teenage girl. Shame on the girl, she probably knew better but was just another kid who thought she would get away with it. Shame on her parents or whoever bought her dress. I can't believe that any caring parent would approve of that kind of hoochie attire.

BTW, I showed the news item to my oldest daughter this afternoon. Her comment, and I quote, "That's so gross!" I think that says it all.

June, your daughter is lovely. I bet she had a blast.

I was going to post these pics in the other blog about that inappropriate dress. But seen you had this one specifically named "Appropriate Dress for Prom", so thought this would be a better place. Hope you don't mind. If you do, please feel free to delete this.

These are pics of my 2 boys who just went to the Prom last month; each with a friend.

Thanks TM, although I didn't help either of the girls pick dresses. I lucked out with the boys, only one needed a tux, the other decided to wear his Class A uniform. So all we had to do was get the corsages. LOL

But I'm sure I could have helped that girl get something better and more appropriate. LOL

I love it, "gold band aid". That was great!! LOL Dyneshia, your sons are so handsome!! And, their dates look lovely! Miss Gold Band Aid should be the poster child of what not to wear!

LOL I agree, june, she should be.

But as I posted in the other blog about her...
Have you seen the "condom dresses" and the ones made of duct tape? I had seen the duct tape ones years ago, but today when I showed the guys that video, my 16yo said I should look up the condom dresses. No idea who would have even thought of such ideas.

Such beautifuls girls and handsome boys...although I admit I'm partial to the one in the uniform....it's a military mom thing I guess. It is quite evident that we have some parents who actually take the time to parent on these blogs! Well done ladies!

ACO, not a very classy reply.

Dyneshia, you have a couple of handsome boys there.

June:

If it is reasonable to believe that manner of dress is a reflection of moral philosophy, you have reason to be proud of your daughter.

I am a North Dallas mom of 3 daughters. I have lived in Dallas since 1970 & have watched this great city grow. I enjoy being a "tourist" in the Metroplex by taking my children around to different attractions. We are members of the Dallas Zoo and we enjoy road trips around Texas. Two of my new hobbies are exploring Texas' backroads and trying out different barbecue restaurants in the quest to find the "best bbq in Texas". I have grown up watching Channel 4 News & like my oldest daughter said the other day, "I won't watch any other news, Mom."
