In all the news about STEROIDS in sports, I had a thought.

Is a breast implant for a hollywood  actress to enhance her career, the same thing for athletes doing things medically to enhance their career?

I can see the similarities, but since the actress only uses it to enhance her appearance and not her performance, it's a little different. Not too much of a difference, but still a little different.
But when an athlete takes a drug into his body then passes off the effects as "natural ability"..well, that's fraudulent right there.
And if it's against MLB regulations, then they broke the rules.
In Hollywood I think it's a requirement that the less talent you have, the bigger implants you need. Pam Anderson, case in point.
I really don't give a hoot n holler if he/she suffers any ill effects from the drug, be it disappearing packages on the men, gonads on the women, brain tumors like Lyle Alzado..that's what they deserve. Same for women who get implants or any other cosmetic procedure just for vanity purposes..you suffer any ill effects from it, you have only yourself to blame.

IT SURE DOES ENHANCE HER PERFORMANCE, part of the "PART" is her looks.

Really? Do you think Pam Anderson could have played the part of Vivien in Pretty Woman or Erin Brokovich better than Julia Roberts? Vivien was a hooker, after all; and Erin B did use her, um, assets to get what she needed when she needed it.
And how many of our top actresses have had boob jobs? Julia? Nicole Kidman? Scarlett Johanssen? Cate Blanchett? Reese Witherspoon? Kiera Knightley? Drew Barrymore? Cameron Diaz?

I guess since their boobs aren't big, they're no talent crappy actresses going by your opinion, huh? How sad that big boobs=good parts in your eyes. I bet your DVD library is quality stuff!!

THEN....WHY DID THEY HAVE the implant IF THEY WOULD NOT HELP THEM IN THEIR CAREER.

GEESH COMMON SENSE.

Oh, and lets not forget Renee Zellweger, Jodie Foster, Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry..these actresses and those I listed did NOT feel it necessary to get boob jobs.
So why did others do so? Vanity. Duh. Because they knew they didn't have the talent to make it ? Probably. Why do women feel it necessary to do it? Same reasons. Vanity, insecurity, and the feeling that they aren't "good enough", that what God gave them wasn't "good enough". Because they're SHALLOW, maybe?
(I will say that I have no problem with women who undergo this as reconstructive surgery to replace breasts lost to cancer. There's a HUGE difference in replacing what's gone than just making it bigger.)

Then lets list all the sports figures that did not do it too.

OBVIOUSLY they FELT the needed the RESUME ENHANCEMENT. Whats the difference? One profession INJECTS themselves with steroids and the other with silicone.

I am NOT CONDONING steroid use. Just making a parallel. Nor do I like FAKE ANYTHING, much less boobs.

Yes its DONE FOR VANITY, for the most part. And YES I understand someone that had cancer and needs to feel whole, but YOU CAN NOT TELL ME ONE PERSON in HOLLYWOOD that DID IT BECAUSE THEY LOST A BREAST TO CANCER.

THEY DID IT TO ENHANCE THEIR CAREER. Plain and simple, just as WRONG AS the athletes WERE WRONG.

GOD made US what we ARE. BE HAPPY with it, both athletes and actresses.

MIK?....you CAN NOT honestly tell me, that Pamela Anderson.......wasn't POPULAR because she had the money to put a SUBSTANCE in her body. She was NOT popular with me, SHE WAS FAKE, just like the FAKE athletes that did IT with steroids.

I just wonder WHY...its bad in one profession and OK in another.

I think its BAD in both. We just do not hear about the SILICONE abuse in hollywood, no Senate investigations. Just accepted.

kenny...Pamela Anderson was nobody until she put on a bathing suit. She got BIG when her boobs did. And what major movie starlet was unknown prior to a boob job, then became famous? What major (key word, major) movie starlet was nobody until silicone? I can't think of any either. So if they did it to enhance their career, they wasted their money.
Plus, when one gets a boob job, they do not get silicone injected into their bodies. They get plastic baggies full of it placed inside their bodies. They don't get injections every week, month, whatever of silicone to keep their boobs big. They did at one time have to "crack" their boobs b/c the silicone would get hard if they didn't. My husband dated a woman who had them and he said it was the wierdest thing he ever saw. (If you get a boob job to enhance your career, then dollars to donuts you're a topless dancer.)

And yes, it would be nice to see a top athlete who HASNT taken these drugs. If there is one. Nolan Ryan maybe? Was Craig Biggio on the list?

And frankly, I think Hollywood, and professional sports are basically the same thing. One goes on looks, the other on muscle. Then there's music..when both are required, (esp in hip hop.)

That's why I'm not a real big fan of either one, and don't really choose to expose my daughter to it.

No, I never said the breast implants were the same thing. Re-read the post, kenny. I said I could see YOUR point, but they weren't complete parallels, and then pointed out how they were different.

Never said it was okay. To me, it's just as fraudulent as steroid use by athletes, but since athletes have to do it over and over in order to continually improve, and then act like they don't do it, well, that's worse.

Most women with boob jobs are PROUD of them, like once they're fake, they're not part of your body anymore. They don't try to pass them off as real.
