I dont know why I'm posting this other than to share with my friends.

Today i go out to take my lunch break, I'm sitting on the bench smoking my cigarette and

I notice that the ashtray is 1/4 full of water.

Floating top of the water is a monarch butterfly.

I look at the butterfly and its not moving so i'm thinking to myself, what a shame

that he/she drowned, then I see its wings barely move and I realize that its still alive.

So I reach down in the nasty brown water and lift the butterfly out of the water and laid it on the ground.

But then it starts acting like it could'nt fly, so I pick it up off the ground and placed it on a branch in the tree hoping that when its wings dry it can fly away.

Around 2 pm today the fire alarm went off in our building and everyone was rushing to get outside, so I walk over to the tree and the butterfly was gone.

I sure hope it was able to fly away. It was sad seeing it in that water, I just knew  it was dead

.

ok...thats sweet..now...this is where we kinda have something in common..at our shop....we have one wall that's almost all windows...its not exactly clean out there and the windows have all of these daddy longleg spiders and webs on them....i spend a lot of my day out there and i've rescued more butterflies than i could count....if i don't they get caught in the webs and the spiders get them....or if they manage to escape the spiders....they get confused and will just fly up against the glass until they flap themselves to death....i've taken quite a ribbing from the mechanics for doing this....i've been called "butterfly boy" and some other pretty unmanly names....but i can't stand to just sit there and watch them die....call me a softie....but DO NOT call me "butterfly boy".....good blog Kim...
