I don't expect anyone to comment on this, it's just something I'm passionate about....

This story is just heart breaking for me. I've been a SCUBA diver for 15 years. I've been all over the Caribbean including Grand Caymen several times and experienced "Stingray City" where these wonderful creatures practically cover your body trying to get the banana's out of your bc pack. I do understand that chlorine isnt something that is normally tested in a salt water tank and it was an honest mistake, but I hope they get this cleared up soon.

An animal lover....

My kids & I love Sting Ray Bay. We're Dallas Zoo members & really enjoyed this exhibit. However, I did have a few reservations about it. I've felt that there wasn't enough supervision; last time I was there, a few people actually attempted to pick the sting rays up out of the water & 1 person I saw actually succeeded. I reported this & they took care of the situation. Also, some people attempt to grab them, which also stresses out the animals. And, in regards to chemicals in the water, that should have been tested before they ever put any animals in that water. Why would they have chlorine in water where animals swim? Last I looked, the ocean does not have chlorine in it. Great post.

Thank you! I myself have not been ot the exhibit at the Dallas Zoo but have been to similar exhibits at other aquariums where you can interact with the animals.... Thats horrible to know that the zoo keepers are not keeping a better watch over the animals that are coming in contact with the public, the keepers are taught to watch the animals like their own pets and ALL hands must be washed before putting them into the tank. Thanks for the insight :)

I haven't heard the story but was it chlorine in the water? Without someone standing guard at these exhibits there are some that would pour anything into the water.

I've never been to the zoos here in Texas, but I've been to the Aquarium in Corpus Christi and they have a stingray pool. They have employees standing around who are constantly telling some the rules.
