OK... I have a cleaning lady coming tomorrow to clean the house. Yes, she works on Sunday as this is a part time job for her. I have been running around all evening cleaning for her. I have been straightening things up, putting things away etc. What is wrong with this picture ? I have heard of others doing the same thing. Does anybody else do this ? Also, What should I do when she is here ? I trust her so I am not worried about anything disappearing plus she is a housekeeper at the nursing facility where my mom is so I trust her totally .She used to clean the house for my dad before I moved in but I thought I would treat myself to a good cleaning. Any comments here ? Perhaps I will go vacuum real quick before I go to bed. lol

When I had a cleaning lady, I always straightened up before she arrived. I hired her to do the heavy housework, such as change the sheets, do the bathrooms & kitchen, vacuum & dust, etc. Depending on how long she'd be there, I'd keep in some sodas & lunch things for her. When I was growing up, my mother always had a cleaning lady. That was in the days when they also ironed. LOL Good luck with your cleaning lady! They are invaluable for a busy household.

Kittymom - does she need a helper, and do you have a big screen TV ???

What time does the game start ?

LOL, Furbie. Kttymom, most people try to do the same thing. It's hard for a cleaning person to know where things go, so it's better than you standing over them telling them where to put things away, since most of them charge by the hour.

When I had someone in, I'd be like June, and have them do the heavy stuff. Vaccuuming, dusting, sweeping/moping, bathrooms, kitchen, baseboards, those kind of things.

Enjoy the treat. You just might be spoiled for life! LOL

LMAO Furbie !!! I put everything away and I plan on having her do the heavy things as mentioned above. I am going to feel funny sitting in the couch watching TV while she is dusting or vacuuming. I am sure I will be busy doing other things. In the past, she was only here for 4-5 hours and she doesnt know I have moved in so there will be an extra room to vacuum and dust. But the house is much cleaner than the past too though. And the whole house is carpeted, so no mopping at all !
I wish I had a big screen TV. I dont even have HD !!!!!! Just an 'ol 27 incher....GO GIANTS...

My wife has her own cleaning business and I can attest to the fact that most people do NOT straighten up before her arrival. She loves the work and the people. She'd be happy to have you...what, pre-cleaners for customers! lol

Oh my superman...thats what I call a superlady !!!!
I personally never have had a cleaning lady but my dad is paying for it and he can afford it once in a while. I was sick for 3 weeks and got real behind on the housework and I am overwhelmed so thought I needed some help this time. Between 6 cats, a bird, a dog and 1 huge sloppy, dirty, lazy man...I needed some help this go around. My dad also has Dementia as well as my mom has Alzheimers, in a facility at 63 yrs old. I have my hands full.
I need one of those superladies from superman to live with us !!

My grandmother had a cleaning come in to do the heavy stuff after she was in her 80's. She was adamant about doing everything herself. No help with the dishes or anything else. After my mother had surgery I paid the cleaning lady to do my mothers house a couple of times. Well my mother forced herself to straigten up the house as best she could. I think we just don't want people to thing "what a scumbag" all this dirt. Are they just the laziest or what?

Well I thought some of you would like to know how it went today. Whew, I am exhausted from cleaning today. While she was here I found many things to do such as linens, laundry, I just did some putzing around the house. Well, after she left, I had to put things back where they were from the dressers, etc, windex both tables in the family room, change linens (guess she doesnt do that), clean the kitchen(again, guess she doesnt do kitchens),she forgot one out of 3 toilets, vacuum kitchen....the list goes on. I now remember why I have not had her nor anybody else to clean the house in 5 months. And it looks like it will be even longer for the future. The things she did I do on a 2-3 x week basis anyway. I thought she would do more deep, heavier cleaning. She didnt even dust dining room. I am not very happy. I have known people to have cleaning ladies and they clean fridge, microwave, ceiling fans with the big duster, linens, even start some laundry, iron if necessary and things like that. Very disappointed. Waste of money. I guess I know what I will be doing AGAIN tomorrow !!!!

I USED to have a cleaning lady, can't afford it these days, but I ALWAYS made a list of things for her to do... starting with the most imjporatant, that way, if she didn't finish, I knew what was left and it wasn't imperitive that I do it right then. Some will be offended at the idea, so let them know that the list is as mmuch for you as for them, so you can finish if necessary and if they barely make a dent in your list in an hour or so, I suggest you find someone else. I can't stand to pay someone for work not being done (as I sit at work- ah the irony-lol)
