A 26-year-old man seen on a video surveillance tape was charged Thursday with first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping in connection to the death of recent high school graduate Kelsey Smith, who disappeared from a Target parking lot in Overland Park, Kan., on Saturday.

Police arrested Edwin Hall, 26, on Wednesday night after he appeared on a security camera video shortly before Smith, 18, walked out of Target and was forced into a car.

Hall will be arraigned at 4:30 p.m. ET Thursday at Johnson County Courthouse.

I suspect the affidavits of probable cause will show the motive, lec. Those haven't been released yet....but will be shortly.

In a society that has gone terribly soft of penalizing criminal acts, is it any wonder?

And still we have people in this forum strongly advocating the elimination of current laws against drugs and prostitution.

As though government regulation of those crimes will somehow make them moot. It's a sheer pipe dream, but a pretty fair measure of where this country is in relationship to what's right and what's wrong.

A huge minority attempting to dictate to the law abiding silent majority.

Every parent of teens should get them some training on how to protect themselves in this kind of situation. I have read things before on how women can do some simple things in the parking lot....First, fall down to the ground...kicking ...screaming...biting...spitting....try to crawn Under the car....do anything.... 30 seconds of this will save you life...of course there are other things to learn too..like, developing a mindset that someone is always around...looking for you.....etc...
