Well, I found out some news yesterday after work, that just shocked the crappers out of me!

I live inbetween the White Rock Shopping Center (Casa Linda) and Lockwood Shopping Center.  Well, we usually know when something is going on because you hear the police helicopter flying over us or hear all the sirens when there is a chase or accident.

Well, we went to eat at a small restraunt yesterday after work and the owner was telling us that the Carnival on Jupiter and Garland Rd. had been robbed at around 10:00 a.m..  Not only that, right before these hoodlum/theives robbed Carnival, they robbed the Dollar General in the Lockwood Shopping Center across the street.

To his knowledge, they did not and have not caught the robber/theives/hoods.

My thing is, that there have been so many robbies...big ones like these, in our neighborhoods and we only hear of them by word of mouth.  We never hear about them on the news or paper.

I, myself, was robbed/beaten, by a couple of men a few years ago while going to my car from the Dollar Store where they opened up the mexican bazaar on Garland and Centerville.  But, the police said, unless I could identify the persons, there was nothing they could do about it.  I didn't even get a police report number.  Even with the busted mouth, black-eye and bump on the head that they gave me.  Even though, my jewelry was taken.

The man who killed and burned his girlfriend in a car, I believe last year, was found living under the White Rock Bridge at the lake.  Now how close to home is that for some of us?

How are we to know what areas are safe or not if we don't know what is going on and that it is right in our neighborhoods?

No crime watch, neighbors that watchout for eachother, etc...

What are we coming to?

"I could identify the persons, there was nothing they could do about it. I didn't even get a police report number."

FOR REAL?! Wow, am I naive or watched too many Law & Order shows. That's not excusable on any level.
And did you notice when North Park had a SERIOUS crime in the parking lot - things were done! And done fast.

Many years ago, we came across remains of an obvious robbery.. called cops... they do literally NOTHING. No fingerprinting, no nothing. Truly amazing. But, I've always believed the cops main purpose was to GIVE OUT TICKETS to make money for the city's. Period.

I'm sorry you were beaten and robbed, Luv. I had the same thing happen to me when 4 cowards jumped me in Orlando, Florida in 1987. The punks got nothing from me but I got tore up.

There's a place you can check on what's happening in your hood. I'll see if I can find it and get you the info.

Yea, well, I understand that the area I live in is now "changing alot". Lots of my good neighbors are moving and the worst is coming in. But, I don't think that should be an excuse to not report news to us.

It's like they are saying "eeh, bad neighborhood, they know where they live and should just get used to it".

NOT!!!

I do my part of keeping up the neighborhood and abiding by the laws and I should be protected by those laws. But, the police are starting to get slower about getting to a call in our area.

Worst is when you call the police and you see one drive by, you stop them and they tell you that it is not their call and that a squad car is on its way. About 20 minutes later, THAT squad car arrives.

I appreciate your help, Scotty.

It's ashame, though, that I have to rely on myself to check some website or hear from someone else that someone or something got robbed or killed in our area.

I have checked the web for registered offenders in my area. MAN!!!!!!! I might as well live in prison!!!!!!!

I had no idea that this many had moved in.

Really frightening times, Luv. I wouldn't live in Dallas if someone paid me to live there. I'm sorry you had such a traumatic experience.

Also, I really appreciate your use of "shocked the crappers..." LOL AWESOME. I use that phrase.

Things like this are why I'm shocked that so many people are defending that "parents" good idea of having his 11 year old son walk home from McDonalds. We live in dangerous times and that was an utterly irresponsible, dangerous thing to do.

I grew up in and around that neighborhood (Never heard "Casa Linda" called "White Rock Shopping Center"...?). Anyway, back in the day, it was a great neighborhood. My best friend still lives there (Buckner and Ferguson) and claims he sits on the "front" of a war zone. Says a night doesn't go by he doesn't hear gunshots.

Well, what are you going to do? the inmates now have control over the asylum, so all I can tell you is either lock and load, or get outta Dodge.

LOL....well, MM....I couldn't find a better way to put it.

I wish that I could move away to a "better" place. But, better for someone else, does not neccessarily constitute better for me or my family.

I was ready to move to Kaufman when my sister moved here from RI, but, after a year and seeing and hearing about some of the things that go on out there, made me change my mind. I figured I was just better off staying put than just moving and getting into the same situation again.

I love my home. My children and grandaughter have grown up in it. I have seen good people come and go around me. And, I have helped raise my neices and nephews here.

I know it is getting worse. And, do long for a better place. But, my heart is here and my kids friends are as well.

I figure, if the Lord can keep my family long enough for my son to finish school and grow up with his friends, then my hubby and I can move on.

I know what it is like to be moved from school to school. My family would do it alot looking for work when I was growing up and that is one thing that I always promised myself that my children would not have to go through. So, I tough it out and try to keep it as safe as possible for my family.

I am friendly to everyone in my neighborhood regardless of whether I get a wave back at me or the finger. lol

So, I guess Dallas is stuck with me, or, me with Dallas until my baby say...mom, we got to move on.

TexasGuy....we sometimes call it the White Rock Shopping Center because of it's location. Ya know, kindof like when you give something a pet name.

But, I do remember when it was safe.

I remember going to the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Casa Linda Theatre which is now closed.

Miss them good ole days.

I used to work my second job at Albertsons in the Albertsons across the street until those young people got killed at the Blockbuster right down from it.

Very sorry to hear about being attacked by lousy F scum.

Here is the bottomline

The police are slower and I will tell you why.

IN no particular order of importance:

1) hiring people just based on quota's so that intelligence as "promotions" occur that need to satisy yep, quotas

UCantHandleThisTruth read my blog
Aug 28, 2008 | 11:28 AM

2) the same way the school systems graduate the "Top Ten % " can go to college and like the grades before them its NOT IMPORTANT THAT THE JOB CAN BE DONE CORRECTLY, ONLY THAT A MINORITY, WHOOPS I MEAN, QUOTA IS FILLED.

inotherwords detectives work aint what it used to be. which leads to.....

3) DA Watkins
another Afir Action situation even though he is elected it it the mentality that permeates our society.
Same thinking that many non-blacks who will vote for Obama, just to give a black person the chance, only based on race

4) computerization was to put more cops on the street etc and the $$$ that was given af ew years back by feds to increase cops was of course used for other pet projects and/or to pay lawsuits by Terrell Bolton and junk like that.

UCantHandleThisTruth read my blog

5) lest you think the finger is only pointed at minorites, think again.

It is in fact whites who continue to backslide and prove how lazy they are by just giving in and turning things over to people, black/white etc but mostly minorities, who cant COGNITIVLEY FIGURE THINGS OUT BUT ONCE AGAIN GET THE JOBS AND THEN THE PROMOTIONS.

6) moving past the race issue, which we really cant but I will for the moment,

AMERICA IS TIRED OF ITS FREEDOM

U - your conclusion under number 5 will draw cries of racism - and I completely agree with you on it.

How refreshing

luv...that's horrible that you were robbed. I lived on Ferguson road near Jouquin..casa view in the mid 80's and the neighborhood was changing when i left it. more crime...more renters/less home owners. ppl don't care about anyone or anyting anymore. what a shame that is

That is one of the worst areas now, TM.

It is so congested! I know the area very, very well.

The apts. on Barnes Bridge named El Capitan are a major part of alot of the crime and drugs in the area. They rent out to just about anyone and you see nothing but hoods coming and going from there.

Well luv you have a few choices here: 1) you can move.or reality is to take it back.Citzens can take neighborhoods back and its hard work, takes a long time, but its worth it, I have been thru this before. Its working with the City, police, code enforcement.Groups are better than one or two.Do not complain, but get solutions, crime watch neighborhood watches etc...Get involved.stor owners would love this as well

You know, JLA....I do get involved. But, sometimes you have to be very careful not to rock the wrong boat.

We desperately need speed bumps on our street and I am working on it. I have been in contact with the city, TXDOT and next is the areas city council. I have talked to neighbors up and down the block, so, I do have others willing to work. But, sad to say that some say they just don't want to get involved or that they don't have time.

"Rock the Boat"
There it is again
The good people have to worry that their bringing to the attention of PAID PEOPLE, PEOPLE PAID TO DO THE JOB THEY SOUGHT, WILL ROCK THE BOAT.

luv, get as many people as you can to join you and if not possible, media attention, if not possible, then call it a day.

keep writing to those people that you/we pay and dont let up.

thanks native tx they might stop the thinker of honesty but they'll never stop honesty itself

Will do, UCHTT.

I definitely plan to continue with this.

Too many children in my neighborhood that need protection and someone has got to get the ball rollin.

Three words: CONCEALED HANDGUN LISCENSE. If more of these punks got there a$$ blown away, it might put a stop to this crap.

I'll have to disagree with you on this one gunnut.

Every copy of the Constitution I have ever read says citizens have the right to keep and bear arms.

I have never seen a word about citizens approved by the government or licensed by them.

And my way of thinking would give the Good Guys a lot more firepower.
