It seems that in the past few years some teachers just loose their minds. Maybe it's the strain of teaching too long. I could not believe it when I heard the story of the substitute teacher who showed up drunk, I loved his story that he'd just had a couple of glasses of wine at lunch. I must have missed that particular education class or part of orientation when they said it was okay to drink on duty. When they interviewed him on the news last night he looked and spoke like he was still under the influence.  I watched it twice and still couldn't believe it. I reminded me of those teacher caught having sex with students/ Grown women having sex with choldren,, it just makes no sense what so ever. What;s that saying? " of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most" These guys seriously need to check the lost and found department. Maybe they'd find some common sense while they were there too.

I will admit to an occasional Friday having a "two Margarita night" after a particularly stressful week at school.....but to drink at lunch! Alcohol is not even allowed on the grounds, so he had to have gone out for lunch. I'd just like to know how the heck you go out for lunch and have time to drink two glasses of wine in a 30 minute lunch period.

Oh, I have too, I have a vivid memory of sitting in the Bevienda's bar on my third margarita and having about three different students walk by with their parents. That was when I started having to go further out of town to drink. But I digress. Drinking at lunch is beyond irresponsible. He had to have slammed back that MD20/20 to get back to campus on time.

G'day all! The bloke was drunk when he did the interview last night on Fox 4 News!!!!
Well I am glad that the police took him away. He had to have been drunk driving and to have gotten that pickled like that he was drinking more than two glasses.
Who served him the drinks? They can go to jail too. It is the LAW in the state of Texas. You must stop serving booze at a point. I know this for I did a TABC class last year on it.

People are normaly FIRED for being intoxicated on the job. No muss, no fuss. Your fired, go home, don't come back. Yes mom, he struck me as being under the influence to. I applied to a campany once, and was told, in lieu of a drug test, "I don't care what you do at home, just DON'T DO IT HERE". I interpreted that as, don't do it, and then come here either. I guess he didn't.

Did you know that Dallas police officers can have up to two drinks while on duty now? Now this is not a fact, but it was told to me from a Dallas police officer. I have no reason not to believe him. But I have not checked it out to be 100% true.

WHAT A GREAT ROLE MODEL FOR THE KIDS IN DALLAS SCHOOLS :(

In their desperation to get substitute teachers, with few moms at home willing to wait for a phone call at six in the morning, school districts have allowed a wide range of people who have degrees, but not in education, come into the classroom. Sure they go through the criminal background checks and fingerprinting, but teaching is just like any other field, you are going to have those crackpots that try to get away with stuff. It's been in every profession from dentist to doctor to priest, and teaching isn't immune. But I bet there are tons more of egregious examples from every other business imaginable. But a drunk teacher sells newspapers and ad time, so what gets reported. I am not excusing it, I'm just saying that there's more examples out there if you care to look in your own back yard.

I agree TexasTru, there is thousands of teachers in the state of Texas. With that many people you’re always going to find a few bad apples. Just look at some of the weirdoes in here.
