I hate it when people stereotype Texans . You know what I am talking about. Those poor souls who think JR and Sue Ellen are typical. Those who think that oil is pumping out in the back yard and we hitch our horse up to go to town. We don't all drive trucks, wear boots , sport giant belt buckles or have big hair. There fore I was appalled to see what was apparently the entire Texas delegation at the RNC wearing straw stetsons , or their cheaper equivalent. People it's bad enough you backed a faux Texan with GW don't perpetuate that awful sterotype . ARGHHHH I want some cheese and white wine, .

Bristol Palin and Jamie Lyn Spears are not realistic models of teen pregnancy. The beatification of Bristol and Jamie Lyn is setting up a foolish and false example for other teens. I am rapidly becoming sickened by the constant cry of "I am so proud of her" , "At least she didn't kill the baby." GAG ME. Bristol and Jamie Lyn will have two things 99% of most pregnant teenagers will not do not have. MONEY and SUPPORT, They are foolish teenagers who had unprotected sex and will not pay the same consequences that the majority of young parents do.Most teen pregnancies are disasters and we all know it. Babies born to teenagers have multiple strikes against them from the start. They will be born to parents who are not married and most likely never will be. Their fathers will not have an everyday stable role in their lives and worse, they are often the third generation born in that same circumstance. Their parents are under educated ( lifetime minimum wages for them) and will ,generally fall into the welfare and food stamp program. Chances are very high they will repeat this cycle themselves. All those right to life people who applaud these choices so vigorously will also complain, and loudly,y when they have to pay for this welfare. These young girls will not give up the child for adoption for "those loving homes who are dieing to adopt" their children will be raised by grandma,, 30ish, great grandma, 50ish, or let to run the streets. Some will go into the foster care system, another great place for kids.
Let's be honest here. Bristol Palin is NOT a valid example of your typical pregnant teen and she is setting an unrealistic example for other teens.

As I have read various posts today on the subject of VP Palin and her views and experience one in particular struck me. It appears that awhile back she stated that the war in Iraq was one God wanted us to win
"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is
right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders,
are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she
exhorted the congregants. "That's what we have to make sure that we're
praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."
Anybody that claims to know what God's will or plan is makes me nervous. Far too many people have died in God's name in "holy Wars". The crusades pop to mine fairly easily. I for one cannot conceive of a God that wants his people to die in his name weather it be Allah or Jehovah If Ms Palin truly believes that God wants us to conquer Irag( an imposible task in my opinion) and spread Chritianity , of whatever denomination I am very worried.

My children used to have a game, I forget the name, where they would try to eliminate characters. Is it a man? Does he wear glasses? It went on like that till they found the right person. I feel that this is very similar to the way John McCain picked his running mate. Sort of like: I need a Republican woman. Pro-choice, big on the enviroment family values. I can all but hear the wheels spinning and voila!! out pops Palin.Has John McCain ever even mett this lady? Just bizarre I am sure she is qualified and she seems to have unobjectionable record .But ttak about out of left field.!!

In my lifetime I have seen massive change. Some for good some for the worse.Tonight I am seeing some of the best, I f you like love or loathe Barack Obama he is the c ullmination of Martin Luther King's dream. When I was born in 1954 there were wtill white and colred drinking fountains, balcks sat at the back of the bus and grown men were called boy . The N word was a part of everyday conversation . A college education for most balcks was a fantasy. My parents,God bless them, taught me this was wrong and they stood up for their then revolutionary ideals. I am still incrediblly proud of them. I like to think they and I have some small part in all ofthis.WOW

Over the years I have observed a number of politicians with terminal Potomac fever.Howard Dean, John McCain, John Edwards, John Kerry and Hilary Clinton to name a few. It is evidently a disease with no known cure. I used to think it could be cured with actually winning the presidency. Evidently I was wrong in that as it appears Bill Clinton still is infected. I know it must be a heady feeling when people start telling you you are invincible, that you belong in the oval office and that you've got a lock on it. Great stuff but honestly Joe Biden needs to give it up. I have watched his previous crash and burn campaigns and it just isn't happening. For the good of the party he should have declined and Obama should have chosen Hilary. I like Joe, hair plugs and all, but I don't think he was a good choice. The vice presidency is a tantalizing position to a man like him, a man who wants it so bad he can taste it, but Joe will, at some point, implode. He will"mis speak" or mis quote or just plain plagiarize and one more time the DNC will have shot it';s self in the foot.

I noted today that parents and students were being turned away from Duncanville High school. One parent expressed her outrage that the school district was not prepared to accept her student. She had had TWO WEEKS during the summer and a make up day yet had not registered her child. How can anyone be that obtuse? They were given notice at the end of the last school year, mailed notice during the summer and still hundreds just strolled in this morning to register. People you are the parent it is YOUR job to do these things. I know getting yourchild the right clothesis all important but for the love of God the brain is more important than their clothes.

A female, with two very small children, left them with a homeless man while she went to do drugs and have sex in a porta potty. WHat a class act! She looks a little worried in her mug shot. Personally I hope she is never allowed access to those babies again .

Since I got deleted not once but twice I will voice my opinion here. They have started construction on the new Berlin wall out in California. I honestly don't know why they think this will do any good. It is a government project. This dooms it to failure almost immediately . There will be "cost over runs:"that's government speak for a lot more money than we planed on. Time issues , it will takes months if not years longer than projected and ,as it will go to the lowest bidder, the workmanship will be shoddy. As fast as they can build the wall there will be tunnels dug under it . It will stand as a monument to the smallness of SOME American hearts and minds and as constant drain of taxpayer money.

I literally spit my orange juice out when I heard this one. DISD has lost it's collective mind. This is ridiculous!!!!! You might as well just give everyone a C and get it over with. Students need to be held accountable for their actions or lack thereof . Do overs if you fail a test? . Missing assignments, no homework Holy Carp . Why not just give everyone the TAKS test September 1st and call it a day. If they pass they've graduated high school . This is just encouraging a nation of mediocrity, Why study ,why work, why try to excel! ARGHHHHH

I have been watching the Olympics and besides being madly jealous of such huge athletic talent I am deeply impressed by the effort the Chinese have put into this. While I don't agree with a great many of their policies I cannot help but be impressed with so much they have done. A nation wide effort to learn English, the meticulous planning that went into the opening ceremonies , All very impressive. I wonder if we Americans would go through anywhere close to what they have done? ?I think we need to remember that there are 1.25 BILLION of them and they are very focused/Can you see any of us much less a million or so trying to learn Chinese? AN interesting group.

I am undecided on this issue. It reminds me of the Dr, Seuss book. " Horton hatches an egg"It seems this woman was happy to have someone else raise and care for her children till she needed them for what ever reason. Something in me says this lady really believes she was protecting the children but then again they may have filled an empty part in her heart and life.It is a bad situation for both the women and the children. I am sure the babies, and they are babies, are attached to the woman who has cared for them and loved them for three years. It s probably the most stable home they have known. As for the mom I just don't know. I couldn't leave my children with a virtual stranger for three years , There are missing parts of this story . DO these children have a father? Where is he?Does mom have a job or home to bring the children too? Has she had regular contact since she went back to NOLA? There are a lot of unanswered question here

I love my dogs dearly and I have spent a fortune over the years on their health and care but Holy Smoke! I can't believe anyone would spend 50,000 to have an animal cloned. This lady sold her house to pay to have her pet, a pit bull, cloned. For fifty thousand she could have funded a shelter for a year . She could have adopted and saved countless animals. I know there are people who prefer pure breds and I am happy to supply them but even I wouldn't do this.I think she is just a little off plumb on this , You send a child through college for this ammount! Am I alone? Would any of you do this?

This election is getting uglier by the day. As much as people can and will say color is not an issue in the end it will be the big issue. There are those who will vote for Barack because he is Black , there are those who note for McCain because Barack is Black. I personally will not vote Republican ever. But I know a great many older Americans , some life long Democrats who will vote for McCain because of race. There are days I wish we were all just beige it would make like much easier.
