I am undecided on this issue. It reminds me of the Dr, Seuss book. " Horton hatches an egg"It seems this woman was happy to have someone else raise and care for her children till  she needed them for what ever reason. Something in me says this lady really believes she was protecting the children but then again they may have filled an empty part in her heart and life.It is a bad situation for both the women and the children. I am sure the babies, and they are babies, are attached to the woman who has cared for them and loved them for three years. It s probably the most stable home they have known. As for the mom I just don't know. I couldn't leave my children with a virtual stranger for three years , There are missing parts of this story . DO these children have a father? Where is he?Does mom have a job or home to bring the children too? Has she had regular contact since she went back to NOLA? There are a lot of  unanswered question here

I agree Mom, and your Dr. Suess book is the perfect example. The real problem with this case is, some Americans feel we need our government running things and helping us raise and parent our kids. With this comes tons of red tape that must be done step by step or we can run into trouble with the law which can lead to jail time.

These same idiots are also the ones that want this same government to run our health care. Do you think we could be arrested for not seeing the right kind of doctor?

I smell a rat as well on this one. Why would a balanced woman who had dedicated years of her life to helping these kids suddenly disappear if she didn't think the kids were in danger? I think something happened and the mom decided she needed them back (maybe for the government money, who knows). I hope the situation isn't how it seems to be but...

I have only heard a little about this story, but what I have head makes my heart hurt for those children.
I hope that the lady that took them away is not locked up, because with all the missing info, something tells me she had viable reason to run. Something tells me that their mother just wants them for government money or something like that. Their mother probably does love them, and yes she has every right to take them and have them live with her, but is thats whats best for her children, I doubt it.
Maybe CPS should look into this before making any hasty decisions. CPS and the state aren't the answer to everything,m but someone has to be there to protect the kids.

I believe she violated the law but under the presumption she was doing what was best for the kids.

Momcat, I agree. How could any mother allow someone else to care for their kids for 3 years?

This is yet another weird Texas based case where everyone is going to wind up a loser.

I hope to God that those kids see some stability.

The lady who was keeping the children acted with her heart and not her head. Unfortunately, the state of Texas tries to keep families together, even when very young children have been virtually abandoned. It was sad seeing how much those children loved the caretaker. And after hearing horror stories of "mommy's new boyfriend", I think the lady had a valid concern. I hope these kids don't fall through the cracks, but I am afraid they will. A 22 year old who already has five kids doesn't demonstrate a whole heckuva lot of maturity.

Nor discipline, Tru. The kids always suffer the most.

I happened to hear an interview with the attorny for the "kidnapper' if ,and he is a lawyer, he is telling the truth the bio mother has been commiting welfare fraud for three years. Further it is possible that her current boy friend and purportive father of the three youngest has been acused of molesting the oldest daughter. Typical state of Texas CPS screw up here.

It a shame that involuntary sterilization is not legal in this country. That idiot doesn't deserve the kids. She is probably missing the extra welfare they were bringing in.

And your right. The kids, as usual, are the losers.
